Chapter 206: Publicly Humiliated
“About that…” Seiren said with a hint of embarrassment, “Ms. Yardley has already brought my younger brother over. He’s currently attending high school here and will be able to take the university entrance exam next year.”
Caleb also felt happy for her younger brother. “With the Yardley family involved, Raquel wouldn’t dare act recklessly. That’s a good thing.”
At that moment, a sudden roar of anger echoed from nearby.
“Come home with me right now! There are so many people here, and Mr. Xiques is still present. Do you really want to make a spectacle of yourself in Plainsted?” Terry was berating Joseph.
Caleb was so engrossed in confronting Raquel that he completely forgot about Harris. He was reminded of the fact thanks to Terry’s shouting and he couldn’t help but look up. Upon doing so, he was taken aback because Harris was also looking at him.
Caleb was utterly baffled, failing to understand why such a big shot would take an interest in him. Before he could even make sense of the situation, he saw Harris shift his gaze away. Then, calmly and unhurriedly, Harris followed the few individuals ahead and left.
Caleb looked ahead, spotting the four members of the Quixall family storming off toward the hotel’s main exit as though someone owed them a significant debt. He wanted to follow, but Chelsea held his wrist back.
She whispered, “Don’t go. There are reporters outside.”
In an instant, Caleb understood. “Thank you.” A close call. If she hadn’t told me that, I really would have strolled out carelessly and been bombarded by the reporters who want a piece of the buzz. Jesse’s fans might also be waiting outside to personally take me, the “villain,” down, to stand up for Jesse. After all, Raquel’s love letter was read aloud in public. If it hadn’t been for this incident, her wedding with Jesse might not have been disrupted.
Chelsea cast her gaze toward the door. “I feel like the reason for Mr. Xiques’ visit to Plainstedt was more than just attending a wedding.”
Outside, a large group of reporters had swarmed the area, effectively blocking any passage through. The moment they saw the four members of the Quixall family emerge, their eyes instantly lit up.
“Mr. Quixall, do you have any thoughts about this wedding?”
“Mr. Jesse, as a popular singer, you were publicly humiliated by your fiancée. What are your plans moving forward?”
“Ms. Quixall, is the Quixall family planning to dissolve the engagement with the Levinson family? Can you share how well you know Ms. Levinson? What kind of person is she usually?”
Those reporters, whether intentionally or not, always seemed to poke at where people hurt.
At his son’s wounds, only fueled his rage even more.
“Scram, all of you!” He snapped. “Can’t you see it’s not the right time to ask questions?”
However, the journalists were not deterred by his words, and one even asked, “So, Mr. Quixall, are you planning a divorce?”
George glared at him fiercely, then turned around and shouted, “Get rid of these d*mn reporters immediately! Jesse can’t even step out now!”
Jesse gently restrained his father. “Dad, allow me. I’ll answer their questions, and once they’re done, they’ll leave.”
George wore a look of disapproval. “Jesse, can you really do it? These reporters are ungrateful. You don’t need to accommodate their whims.”
With a gentle smile, Jesse said, “Journalists are bound by their duties and thus, they have no choice but to act in such a way. I empathize with them. It’s no big deal.”
