Chapter 207: Best Wishes

A few reporters in the front row were visibly moved. They had heard about Jesse’s attitude from their senior in the past. Although Jesse hailed from a wealthy family, he was exceptionally gentle; no matter how tricky the question, he always responded in a gentle voice. Therefore, they all secretly developed a liking for him. Every time they purposefully asked him questions, they subconsciously chose the gentler ones so as not to hurt him.

“Mr. Jesse, the affair between Ms. Levinson and Mr. Doyle was exposed at the wedding. What are your thoughts on this?”

With a weary tone, Jesse confessed, “Perhaps Raquel had her reasons… However, I can’t muster any interest in that anymore. From now on, I might not engage in romantic relationships again.”

The reporter looked at him with sympathy. “I’m sorry if I’ve upset you. So, are you planning to break off your engagement with Ms. Levinson?”

Jesse nodded. “Raquel found someone she truly loves, and I’m happy for her. If we insist on maintaining our relationship forcefully, it will only upset her. So, I plan to call off our engagement, to let her pursue her own happiness.”

The reporter asked, surprised, “Are you saying you have no negative thoughts about Ms. Levinson at all?”

Despite being humiliated by the bride and her friends at the wedding, Jesse was surprisingly still able to extend his heartfelt blessings to them. The reporter was shocked, unsure if Jesse was truly magnanimous or…

Jesse smiled gently. “No, not at all. Through you guys, I want to tell her that we’ll always remain friends, regardless of what happened in the past or what the future holds.”

The journalist was moved to tears. “Mr. Jesse, you’re truly so gentle! I hope that once Ms. Levinson hears your words, she will feel a twinge of regret in her heart!”

With a sigh, Jesse said, “In reality, she didn’t really do anything wrong. It was my oversight not to notice her feelings, and I was unable to provide what she desired. Joseph comes from a decent family and is a gentleman. Being with him, she’ll at least have a worry-free life for her later years. I guess… My best wishes to them, and I hope that they’ll have a child soon.”

Tears welled up in the reporter’s eyes as he nodded fervently. “Absolutely! I hope Ms. Levinson can stay faithful in the future and cherish the happiness that is rightfully hers!”

Following that, he asked a few more questions, and then all the journalists dispersed.

Yelena complained, “Jesse, there’s no need for you to be so kind to them. Even if you treat them well, they’ll only rub salt in your wounds!”

Without a care, Jesse simply shook his head. “It’s just what their job asks of them. Life isn’t easy for anyone. If I can lend a hand, even the slightest bit helps.”

Deborah’s eyes welled with tears. “Jesse, you’re truly kind-hearted. If only everyone could be like you!”

Jesse spoke softly, “Caleb didn’t do it on purpose. He just wanted me to see Raquel’s true intentions clearly, urging me not to rush into marriage thoughtlessly.”

George’s eyes widened. “Jesse, his intentions are definitely not as innocent as you suggest! If he truly just wanted to help you, why didn’t he tell you privately? Instead, he chose to expose that b*tch’s true colors at the wedding!”

Jesse cast his gaze to the ground. His voice was as soft as if he were murmuring to himself. “Perhaps he was upset by Raquel. Because Raquel falsely accused him, he lost his temper for a moment, so…”

George scoffed coldly. “What’s there to be upset about? From what I can see, that b*tch wasn’t lying about that! Caleb kidnapped her just to prevent her from attending the wedding!”
