Revenge Forged in Prison

Chapter 245: It Is Ours

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Yelena was showering in the bathroom, scrubbing repeatedly for two hours. Yet, she still felt as though an unpleasant odor clung to her entire body.

Deborah gently knocked on the door, asking, “Yelena, are you all right?”

Suppressing her emotions, Yelena simply replied, “I’m fine.”

Deborah was still quite worried. She then asked Jesse, “Jesse, what do you think about buying your sister a strongly scented body wash? Maybe it could help mask the scent?”

“Yes… That’s a good idea… However, even if we buy the body wash, Caleb will still bully Yelena and…” Jesse didn’t finish his sentence, but Deborah understood immediately.

With her hands on her hips, she declared in anger, “As long as I’m here, no one is going to bully her!”

Jesse nodded. “That’s right. I’ll also protect Yelena!”

After some discussion, Jesse decided to follow an online video and personally prepare a dish for Yelena. As he passed by Caleb’s room, he unexpectedly heard a cat’s meow. In an instant, he became completely rigid.

Upon noticing Jesse’s unusual behavior, Deborah approached him to assess the situation. Pointing at the kitten by his feet, Jesse trembled as he stammered, “I–It…”

Deborah’s gaze hardened, and she instantly picked up the cat. “Jesse, don’t be afraid. I will protect you!”

Just then, Yelena had finished her shower. As soon as she stepped out, Deborah swiftly darted into the bathroom, placing the cat inside the washing machine. However, the washing machine’s plug was broken. No matter how tightly it was inserted, there was no sign that it was going to work.

Left with no other choice, Deborah had to give up. If I leave the cat here, it’s going to die eventually. I’ll just leave it here. Yet, she didn’t think Caleb would have seen her actions so clearly.

Caleb, it seems like you need to do laundry, too. Unfortunately, it seems your washing machine is broken. Don’t worry. I’ll buy you a new one tomorrow—

His face was flushed with anger. “If the washing machine hadn’t conveniently broken down, were you planning on killing this cat?”

Unable to come up with a defense, Deborah simply admitted it outright. “That’s right! Caleb, we must always put people first. This little creature frightened Jesse. As a mother, shouldn’t I step in to ensure Jesse’s safety? Moreover, Caleb, you’ve been incredibly selfish! What’s yours is ours, and there’s a good chance we might even stay in the apartment you’re renting! Jesse had explicitly said he’d be staying for a few days when he came the previous time. Why on earth would you still keep this little creature at home, scaring Jesse?”

Regardless of who she was dealing with, Deborah always presented herself in a gentle manner. Even after Caleb was released from prison, he had on numerous occasions spoken out of turn, much to everyone’s displeasure. Yet, she never uttered a harsh word to him. However, this time, her facial muscles were taut, clearly indicating to Caleb that she was angry.

Unfazed, Caleb stated, “I intend to keep it at home. If you’re not comfortable with that, then you should move out.”

After he said his piece, he didn’t bother to check the expression on Deborah’s face. He simply turned around and walked away.

Upon seeing Caleb emerging once again with the cat in his arms, Jesse hastily retreated to a corner, his eyes wide with fear as he stared at the feline.

With a scoff, Caleb said, “Pathetic.”

Jesse was so infuriated that his face turned beet red, yet he didn’t dare to chase after and retort. Only after Caleb returned to his room did he finally step out to catch his breath.

Yelena stared at Caleb’s bedroom, silently swearing in her heart that she would definitely get her revenge.
