Chapter 253: He Will Awaken One Day

The more Seiren saw how frail Caleb appeared, the deeper her guilt grew. She often couldn’t help but think how much better it would have been if she had bravely stepped forward back then. It was all because of her cowardice. Out of fear of Raquel’s threats, she remained silent when Caleb was falsely accused, leading to everyone misunderstanding him. She truly deserved what she got!

Perhaps Caleb’s distracted state while walking was due to the numerous grievances he suffered in the Quixall residence, which inadvertently led to his car accident. Therefore, she was just as guilty as the assailant and deserved to be punished.

Just as tears blurred her eyes, a gentle voice reached her ears. “Miss, you’ve been sneaking glances at him for quite a while now, haven’t you? Could you tell me why you’re doing this?”

Chelsea’s expression was incredibly soft, akin to a kindergarten teacher exhibiting immense patience with a child. Seiren never imagined that her secret peeping would be discovered. In her panic, she found herself unable to utter a word. With a sigh, Chelsea withdrew her gaze.

“Let me tell you this. The person inside was in a car accident, and it’s uncertain when he’ll regain consciousness. Even if he does wake up, there’s a chance he could be left in a vegetative state, bedridden for life.”

At this point in the conversation, Chelsea’s gaze became distant, as if she were lost in thought. Even though she had long known this possibility, Seiren couldn’t help but feel a wave of panic. “What should we do then?” Her mind was a complete mess.

Grasping Chelsea’s wrist, she pleaded, “I knew from the start, you’re a kind-hearted benefactor! If you would lend your aid to Mr. Caleb, I’m certain he would regain consciousness!”

Chelsea wasn’t comfortable with strangers touching her, so with a frown, she removed Seiren’s hand. However… “Why do you address him as ‘Mr. Caleb’?”

Just as Chelsea had suspected, Seiren replied, “I work for the Quixall family, so naturally, I address him as ‘Mr. Caleb.’”

Chelsea pondered for a moment before saying, “Did you happen to see the incident where he was hit by someone?” This question was of great importance. If a witness couldn’t be found, there would be no way to overturn Caleb’s case. However, to her disappointment, all Seiren responded with was a simple “No.” “All right then.” Chelsea instantly lost interest and got ready to push open the door of the hospital room.

Seiren promptly chimed in, “Even though I didn’t witness the situation firsthand, I know how to deal with the young lady of the Quixall family!” Not only did Raquel frequently torment her, but she also often picked on Caleb. Seiren simply couldn’t bear to watch any longer.

After observing for several days, she was certain that this distinguished lady before her was trustworthy. Only then did she decide to reveal the secret she had been keeping for years. Chelsea quickly turned her head back. “What secret?”

Even though the information Seiren shared wasn’t exactly what Chelsea was looking for, it still held some value worth considering. Who knew if it might come in handy one day? Hence, Seiren shared all the information she had gathered without leaving out any detail, and she showed Chelsea the photos she had taken a few years ago.

Upon seeing the photos, a smile bloomed on Chelsea’s face. “You’ve done quite well. Perhaps one day, the information you provided could be of help to Caleb.”

Seiren excitedly asked, “Then… Mr. Caleb’s illness…” Chelsea, however, lowered her head in sorrow. “I’m sorry, but I’ve already summoned the finest doctor to treat him. Whether he wakes up or not is now up to fate.”

Stunned, Seiren murmured, “How could this be…” Chelsea gave her shoulder a reassuring pat. “As long as we pray sincerely, he will surely awaken one day.”
