Chapter 84 Such a Farce

“I’ve barely said anything, and you two are already so impatient to defame me?” I asked sarcastically. “But you two seem to have forgotten that you hooked up before I even considered divorce.”

“Do I have to lay out all the evidence before you’ll drop this petty act? If you don’t mind public embarrassment, I can certainly play the video for everyone here!”

Upon hearing my words, Elsa instantly paled while Jeremiah gritted his teeth.

After a few seconds of stalemate, Elsa forced a humorless laugh. “You don’t have to slander us just because we exposed your situation with Mr. Flint, Jane! Jeremiah is my brother-in-law, so how could I hook up with him?

“You, on the other hand, got involved with another man before even divorcing your husband and almost got pregnant. You wouldn’t listen no matter how many times I tried to persuade you. As your younger sister, it saddens me.”

What a fake bitch.

It had only been a few days since I last saw her, yet her acting skills had improved.

Elsa’s goading caused the surrounding people to look at me even more strangely.

Just as I was about to speak, I felt a warm chest press against my back.

“Jane and I have not been intimate,” Eric said. “If I had to describe our relationship, it would be courtship; I’m attempting to win her affections.”

He then addressed Elsa, “Despite being Jane’s sister, you chose to publicly slander her and side with an outsider. Your words are hardly credible. After all, if there’s nothing between you and Mr. Cornell, why did you show up here with him behind Jane’s back?”

Eric’s voice immediately put me at ease.

Elsa, embarrassed by Eric’s rebuke, didn’t know how to respond.

Jeremiah immediately shielded her.

“Interesting that you mention that, Mr. Flint,” he said challengingly. “Are you saying it’s fine for you and my wife to attend this exchange meeting together? I seem to recall the two of you being lovey-dovey on my doorstep a few nights ago.

“What? Do I have to tell everyone about that incident before you’ll admit to your indecent relationship?”

I knew Eric’s temper. It wouldn’t end well for Jeremiah if he offended him here, especially on Flint Group territory.

Thinking this, I cast Jeremiah a sympathetic look.

Sure enough, the temperature around Eric cooled rapidly, and he emitted a dangerous chill.

“Since you’re adamant that Jane and I are involved indecently, then wait for a lawyer’s letter from Flint Group, Mr. Cornell,” he said coldly. “As for today, I seem to recall that Flint Group never invited you and Ms. Elsa to this exchange meeting. Why are you here?”

Jeremiah looked embarrassed, his tone wilting. “Of course, we were invited.”

Eric had previously refused to cooperate with the Cornells, so how could Jeremiah have been invited? He must have gotten an invitation through his connections.

He even brought Elsa to show off instead of attending alone. Their whole situation was such a farce.

Eric and I exchanged a glance. He’d reached the same conclusion, so he waved a hand, calling security.

“These two snuck into this gathering, so have them removed,” he ordered.

Jeremiah and Elsa’s eyes widened in disbelief.

China 19.

Jeremiah gritted his teeth and snapped, “Have you gone insane, Eric? I have an invitation, so what right do you have to remove me? Even if Flint Group is hosting, that doesn’t mean you can abuse your authority like this!”

“Abuse my authority?” Eric repeated, his narrowed eyes chilly.
