Listen to this chapter:

Evangeline, impatient, stood up, walked to Edward, and grabbed him by the collar, forcefully pulling him to his feet. With a loud thud, she slammed him onto the meeting table and slapped the termination contract, prepared by the lawyer, in front of him. "Quickly sign the contract. Don't waste my time," she demanded. Edward gritted his teeth. "Let's talk privately," he said. "After we're done talking, I will sign it."

Evangeline narrowed her eyes to slits, a cold glint flashing across them. Without a word, she placed his left hand on the table and, with her right hand clenched into a fist, ruthlessly struck down.

Thud!

"Ah!" Edward cried out in pain. His whole body trembled, his face contorted. "Evangeline, how can you, a girl, be so violent? You're becoming more and more detestable! How can you compare to Meghan? She may have inconsistencies, but at least she's gentle. Unlike you—so violent, always resorting to physical violence!"

After Hugo heard Edward's words, he rolled his eyes. "I've noticed that the Gallagher family's minds aren't quite normal," he added. "The livestream exposed Meghan. She led the gang that bullied Evangeline and pushed her off the cliff. Why do you still think she's good? Your brains are for thinking, not for accessories!"

Steven said contemptuously, "Did Meghan not want to resort to physical violence? It's because she can't win!"

Finnegan nodded. "That's right. Meghan led attacks on Evangeline several times in the livestream, but they were no match for her."

Edward's face darkened. He ignored their ridicule, glaring at Evangeline with a sinister gaze.

Evangeline smirked. "Hate me, huh? Can't stand me? Well, you can go die." She continued to provoke him. "You can't beat me and you can't outsmart me. Cursing at me won't change a thing. I'm not going to change. Look at you. It must be so tiring to be alive. End your life, and it's all over. You won't have to be angry anymore."

"You" Edward was enraged. "You're heartless, wishing for me to die!"

Evangeline tilted her head and smiled innocently. "Wasn't it you who wanted me dead first? You made me sign that contract, intending to expose me to cyberbullying, pushing me to end my life, right? Don't tell me you didn't know the consequences when you had me sign that contract." She continued, "As the owner of an entertainment company, you know exactly what would happen if I followed that contract. But when you made me sign it, there was no hesitation. Even after I signed it, I could see the satisfaction and schadenfreude in your eyes. Do you think you deserve my sympathy?"

Edward's handsome face turned red. His lips moved, but he found no words. When they were discussing the contract, the intention was to subject Evangeline to online attacks as punishment. He was well aware of the power of cyberbullying; many people were driven to depression and suicide because of it. However, Edward thought they couldn't be blamed. At that time, Evangeline had beaten up their whole family and sold Gallagher Group shares to a competitor at a low price. She seemed determined to ruin the Gallagher family. Hence, they felt justified in teaching her a lesson.

"Stop talking nonsense and sign this quickly, or I will break your other hand," Evangeline impatiently declared.

10:31 AM

Edward gritted his teeth, picked up the pen, and forcefully signed the contract, sealing it with the company's stamp. Evangeline handed the contract to the lawyer. The lawyer would then complete the necessary procedures, officially terminating her contract with Superb Entertainment. From now on, she would be a free agent.

Evangeline turned and left Superb Entertainment. As she walked out, her phone rang. It was the police station. She answered quickly. The police officer sounded apologetic. "Evangeline, I have news for you. George stated that Meghan has a mental disorder. He had a psychiatrist examine her, and she was diagnosed with schizophrenia. She has been released for now. As for Samson, he has been released on bail."

Evangeline responded calmly, "I see. Thank you."

After hanging up, she curled her lips into a smile. Reporting to the police was a procedural step; it also showed the Gallagher family her determination and dispelled any unrealistic fantasies they might have. She knew that even if the charges against Meghan were proven, the Gallagher family had the means to get her released. Their family business was affected, but not completely ruined. Getting Meghan out of trouble was a minor issue for them; their generations of connections would be worthless if they couldn't handle something so small.

"Have Meghan and Samson been released?" Arthur asked, his tone unsurprised. He'd clearly expected this outcome.

Evangeline nodded. "Yes, they are out. However, they will soon realize that prison was their sanctuary. The real hell awaits them outside." Arthur raised an eyebrow and smiled. He thought, She doesn't intend to let the Gallagher family go.

Arthur said, "If you need help, just let me know. I'll assist you."

Hugo raised his hand. "Count me in! I can help you, too!"

Steven said, "And me! And me!"

Finnegan touched his nose. "I can't help you with your revenge. But if you ever feel mentally disturbed, I can offer my support."

Thud! Arthur punched Finnegan on the head. "Watch your words, don't casually call people mentally disturbed!"

Evangeline ignored them. "I'm in a good mood today. I'll treat you all to a meal."

Hugo suggested, "There's a new fancy restaurant on Xosa Street. How about trying it?"

Evangeline said, "It's my treat. We'll eat wherever I want."

Hugo smiled. "All right, we'll follow where you lead us, ma'am. We'll have whatever you treat us to!"

Steven scoffed. "You're calling someone several years younger than you 'ma'am'? You're making her sound old!"

10:31 AM

Hugo said, "Despite being younger than me, her aura is stronger. Calling her 'ma'am' is fitting."

The two bantered incessantly.

Half an hour later, the group sat in a small restaurant, each with a bowl of fermented fish noodle soup. Evangeline slurped her noodles and drank iced cola, then belched with satisfaction. The other four stared at their bowls, unmoving. "Evangeline, is this edible?" Arthur asked, his brow furrowed. Evangeline rolled her eyes. "I'm eating it now. Are you asking if it's edible?"

Arthur was speechless.

Evangeline said, "If you don't want to eat it, stay away from me. Those who cannot stomach this cannot be trusted. Don't think about getting close to me."

Arthur's mouth twitched. Is she for real?

After a struggle, he reluctantly picked up his fork and began to eat.

"How is it? What does it taste like? Does it resemble shit?" Steven asked anxiously.

Arthur twitched the corner of his mouth. "I haven't eaten that before, so how would I know what it tastes like?"

Steven was speechless.

Suddenly, Arthur said, "It tastes okay. You can give it a try."

The others finally picked up their forks and started eating. The noodles were addictive. They initially wore expressions of disdain, but in the end, they finished their bowls and even drank the soup.

After leaving the noodle restaurant, Steven suggested going to the Amusement Villa, his family's exclusive resort. Evangeline had no objections; she hadn't properly enjoyed herself in her year back in Hofcaster.

Steven said, "My family's resort is close to Noffort Circuit. We can go there in the evening to watch the races. This year's international competition is held there tonight." He added, "By the way, ma'am, are you interested in car racing? If you aren't, you can go somewhere else with Arthur tonight. The racing venue belongs to my family. I have to check it out."

"Did Jasper sign up for it?" Hugo asked.

Steven nodded. "Yeah, he also signed up. He participates every year. Last year, it was held in Wallera, and he was in the top ten."

Hugo said, "He's quite persistent. I heard he participates every year just to catch the attention of Queen Jade. He aims for good results to get noticed by her." Jasper idolized Jade, a legendary figure in the racing world.

Evangeline's eyes sparkled. "Is it still possible to register now?"

Steven was puzzled. "What?"

10:31 AM

Evangeline repeated, "Is it still possible to register now?"

Steven finally replied, "Well Theoretically, it's too late because they've already sorted out the groups, and the slots are fixed. Although this competition isn't a major one, it's relatively formal, not just an entertainment race. For entertainment races, you can sign up anytime. But that's in theory. You can buy a slot to join at the last minute."

Evangeline said, "Can you help me buy a slot? I have a friend."

Steven said, "Certainly, many mediocre racers intentionally sign up to sell their slots. What's your friend's name? Tell me the name, and I'll contact the racing venue to arrange it. We can change the name on the slot."

"Jade," Evangeline replied.

Everyone's expressions froze. They stared at Evangeline in astonishment.

Steven asked, "Are you kidding me?"
