Chapter 1017: Conflict
He found Little Bunny's words ridiculous. To him, she wasn't the only one; he had many other women.
Theodore sneered, "You take yourself too seriously!"
"In that case, we'll go to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow morning. It's getting late. I won't disturb your rest. See you tomorrow."
She left the room, closing the door behind her.
Exasperated, Theodore couldn't believe he'd been dumped. But from Nicholas's perspective, Little Bunny was insignificant. Perhaps she was merely venting, he reasoned. He'd been absent throughout their marriage; she had legitimate cause for grievance, having rarely seen her husband.
Her aggressive approach, however, surprised him. Threats were ineffective against him; he wanted to see her reaction after their divorce. Crying and begging wouldn't help her.
He lay back on the bed, but found no solace. He dressed and stormed out of the house, heading to Kensbury City, a place teeming with women who would readily pursue him.
Little Bunny rose early the next morning. After breakfast with her son, she sent him to school and then went to Theodore's room, anticipating their trip to the Civil Affairs Bureau. She knocked; the door swung open. Hesitantly, she entered to find the room empty. The neatly made bed indicated he hadn't slept there. This was hardly surprising; he rarely spent nights alone.
It was getting late, and she'd planned to finalize the divorce in the morning and leave in the afternoon. She'd only taken half a day off and didn't want to inconvenience her colleagues. Finally, she called Theodore.
A woman answered, "Hello."
"I'm looking for Theodore," Little Bunny said calmly.
"Who are you?!"
Theodore didn't even have her number.
"Give him the phone."
"And if I don't?"
Little Bunny's expression hardened.
"Do you still want to be superior to me when we are both his women?!" the woman retorted sarcastically.
"Where are you?" Little Bunny only wanted a divorce.
"What's the matter? Do you still want to catch us in the act?! We're in the Golden River Hotel, Suite 808. Feel free to come; I'd like to see what you can do!"
Little Bunny hung up. Time was short; she wouldn't let this opportunity slip. The divorce was paramount.
She quickly washed and disguised herself. In the living room, she found Laird drinking tea.
"Are you going out?" he asked.
"Good morning, Dad. I'm looking for Theodore."
Laird's face darkened. Little Bunny's words revealed her son's all-night absence. His hand trembled as he held his teacup. He was appalled by his son's disrespect towards Little Bunny, who deserved far better.
"Dad," Little Bunny said, knowing he was aware, "I'm going to find Theodore to finalize our divorce."
Laird nodded, sensing the hopelessness of their situation.
"Little Bunny, I shouldn't keep you; it's not that I'm dissatisfied with you, but Theodore doesn't deserve you," Laird said.
Little Bunny smiled gratefully, unsure how to respond. His understanding was helpful; he'd always treated her well. She didn't want to create conflict between them because of Theodore, especially since she'd see Laird often when picking up Nicholas.
"I'm sorry you compromised yourself all these years," Laird sighed.
"Thank you, Dad," she replied, grateful for his support.
"It's okay. I'm happy to be with Nicholas, and you've treated me well." Little Bunny smiled faintly.
"If you have difficulties, come to me directly. Don't be polite," Laird reminded her.
"Sure," she nodded.
"Go. But if Theodore doesn't cooperate, let me know, and I'll handle him."
"Thank you, Dad." Little Bunny felt a warmth spread through her. Having someone supportive was fortunate. Since marrying Theodore, she hadn't fared badly. Coming from a small city and succeeding in Kensbury City, her achievements were remarkable. Her connection with the Wold family had been instrumental in her entertainment career; without them, she wouldn't have received the crucial support. The industry had always been short on opportunities, not talent.
She went to the Golden River Hotel and proceeded to Suite 808. She pressed the doorbell.
A woman in a red silk dress opened the door, the dress revealing her lack of undergarments.
"I'm looking for Theodore."
"You're the woman from the phone."
"I'm looking for Theodore."
"Don't want anyone else to see? You're so covered up!" the woman sneered.
"Excuse me, but I'm here for Theodore."
"And who are you?! Just because you're looking for him doesn't mean you get to see him!" The woman's anger flared.
Little Bunny sensed the woman's contempt.
"Take off your hat and sunglasses so I can see how unworthy you are!" the woman shouted.
