Chapter 1060 Honey Trap
Caroline changed into sportswear and left the homestay, dismissing the agent and taking only her assistant. They ran for a while, but Caroline soon dismissed her assistant as well, preferring to be alone. She quickly located her destination on her phoneโa five-minute walk.
Grinning, she followed the navigation to another homestay. This wasn't about seducing Theodore; she wasn't foolish enough to pursue someone offering no tangible benefit. Her success stemmed from shrewdness and acting skill, not luck. She had a keen eye for identifying useful people, and this was a calculated move. She was setting a honey trap to teach Little Bunny a lesson and discourage her from vying for the female lead.
Approaching the homestay with a calculating gaze, Caroline took a deep breath and then deliberately twisted her ankle, screaming for help. Someone inside responded, and the homestay owner emerged. He saw a slim, graceful woman, her face contorted in apparent distress.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"I twisted my ankle while running," Caroline said, her voice choked with emotion. "May I rest inside for a moment?"
The middle-aged owner hesitated. Theodore was staying there, and he was reluctant to let a stranger in. "I'm sorry, miss," he said, "we're not accepting any more guests today."
"Just a short rest," Caroline pleaded.
"I'm sorry, I can't..."
"My leg hurts terribly," she insisted.
"Where do you live? Are you filming next door?" he asked, not immediately recognizing her.
"Yes, but I got lost and ended up here. The pain is unbearable; I can't walk."
"Let me give you a ride," he offered kindly.
Caroline was annoyed. She needed to see Theodore. "I heard Mr. Wold is here; I know him. I just wanted to say hello."
The owner was surprised.
"I'm his friend," Caroline said, lifting her chin. "I'm Caroline."
The owner recognized her instantly. His apprehension lessened considerably.
"You're a friend of his?"
"You'll see once I meet Mr. Wold," Caroline replied with a faint smile.
The owner, disarmed by her smile, readily helped her inside. "Let me help you; be careful."
"Thank you, sir," Caroline said sweetly. Her smile softened his heart.
"Which room is Mr. Wold in?" she asked.
"I'll take you there," he said, without hesitation.
"Thank you," she murmured, knowing the effectiveness of her beauty.
He led her to Theodore's door. "I'd prefer to meet Mr. Wold alone. Thank you so much, sir."
"It's alright."
As he left, the owner glanced back, captivated by Caroline's allure. Though smitten, he wisely decided against interfering and hurried away.
Caroline knocked on Theodore's door, steeling herself.
"Come in, it's unlocked," Theodore's voice called outโa magnetic voice, far more appealing than sheโd anticipated.
Suppressing her excitement, she slowly opened the door. Theodore wasn't in the main room, but she saw a figure in the bathroom.
Her heart pounded. The nervousness surprised her; she'd done this before. She forced herself to remain calm.
The bathroom door opened, revealing a young man wrapped only in a bath towel, his hair still damp.
Theodore's eyes narrowed. Who was this woman?
Caroline stared back, stunned by Theodore's unexpected handsomeness. On television, beside the Commander, heโd been largely overlooked, but in person, her preconceptions vanished. He was strikingly fit, his musculature clearly defined. Even compared to the many celebrities she knew, his raw appeal was captivating.
"Who are you?!" Theodore demanded. He hadn't expected a stranger to be here.
Her initial composure faltered under his unfriendly tone. "Hello, Mr. Wold, I'm Caroline."
"Caroline who?"
Her smile froze. He didn't recognize her? She'd assumed her fame would be enough.
Quickly recovering, she explained, "I'm Little Bunny's best friend. I heard she was here with you." She was secretly pleased Little Bunny wasn't present, as sheโd planned to use Little Bunny's presence as a pretense.
"Her best friend?" Theodore glanced at her again.
"Yes," Caroline nodded eagerly. She sensed a different dynamic between Theodore and Little Bunny.
"She's not with you?" Caroline asked, inwardly pleased at Little Bunny's absence.
