Listen to this chapter:

Charles had proposed a phone call last night to discuss easing tensions between their families. Jane, despite past humiliation, still harbored feelings for him and prepared for their meeting. However, she found no Charles; instead, gangsters abducted her to an apartment. The video displayed these events.

After her ordeal, fearing punishment, Jane concealed the kidnapping from her father. She received a text from Charles, asking why she hadn't arrived, which temporarily quelled her suspicions. She never imagined he'd orchestrate such a vicious plot.

This trauma contributed to her humiliating behavior at Hannah's wedding, where she mistakenly believed Charles was her ally and blamed Hannah for attempting to drive her to suicide.

During a later confrontation, Charles stated, "Gentlemen, you know who she is. I had sex with her because she drugged me. Jane, you pushed me to it." He then added, "I signed the check Uncle Roger requested," before leaving. Hannah ended the livestream, signifying Charles's victory over Roger.

Hannah anticipated this outcome but didn't intend to exonerate Charles. She knew his scheming nature ensured future conspiracies. Her actions stemmed from a plan of revenge against Jane, who had deeply wronged her in the past by slandering her within their social circle. Now, it was Jane's turn to experience similar social ostracism.

A knock came. "Ms. Hannah, may I come in?"

"Come in," Hannah replied. She showed no sympathy for Jane's plight.

"It's 9:50 AM. Ms. Hannah, you should go to the Human Resources director's office," Rose announced.

"Okay."

Hannah, accompanied by Rose, arrived at Percy Richards' office.

"Ms. Hannah, please sit," Percy greeted warmly.

"Thanks," Hannah smiled, sitting opposite him.

"Rose told me. You're planning staff changes in the sales department?" Percy seemed surprised.

"Exactly."

"Ms. Hannah, take your time. As a newcomer, cultivating support is crucial. Failure to do so is difficult to rectify."

"I know," Hannah replied. "But Percy, you heard my conference goals. My time is limitedโ€”three to six months to complete my mission. I can't follow typical procedures."

Percy looked confused.

Hannah explained, "I need to build my own team quickly."

Percy quickly understood. Though Miguel, Hannah's father, was Cooper Group chairman with 55% ownership and considerable power, the company operated under a joint-stock system. The board held twenty-plus shareholders with voting rights, limiting Miguel's unilateral authority. This resulted in factions with differing agendas, not all loyal to Miguel.

Hannah's swift grasp of this internal dynamic impressed Percy. Lacking time for intricate maneuvering, she would eliminate potential adversaries to establish her team. Only then could her plan proceed smoothly.

Both Percy and Rose understood. They were surprised by the speed of her proposed changes, but Hannah saw the necessity of building loyalty quickly. Rose was awestruck by her insight and foresight.

"Ms. Hannah, I fully support your efforts and will handle the follow-up," Percy assured her.

"Thanks, Percy," Hannah said politely, subtly implying, "With your ten years' experience, you understand team dynamics better than I do. I need your professional advice."

"I won't fail Miguel's expectations," Percy readily agreed, realizing she was identifying trustworthy allies and he'd chosen his side.

"Rose, show Percy my plan," Hannah instructed.

The details were finalized.

"I need the official staff change notice on the internal bulletin board tomorrow morning," Hannah declared.

It was hard to believe this decisive and capable woman was a recent university graduate.
