Listen to this chapter:

No one knew she had actually died at age 32, only to inexplicably return to her 22-year-old self.

After her appointment with Percy, she returned to the office with Rose. Upon entering, she saw Mary leaving with her handbag. Hannah frowned.

Mary, appearing despondent, said, โ€œMs. Hannah, I need a leave for the rest of the day. My sister is in trouble; I need to be with her in case she attempts suicide.โ€

Hannah sneered. Take care of her? she thought. Or was Mary seeking an opportunity to further harm Jane?

Hannah nodded her approval. She relished the prospect of Jane and Maryโ€™s conflict, anticipating personal gain.

Mary, after expressing gratitude, hurried away, but couldn't resist a jealous glance at Hannah. Gritting her teeth, she silently vowed Hannah would be her next target.

She left the company and returned to the Cooper Residence. Entering, she heard Esther crying.

โ€œCharles set her up! It must be! Jane would never do such a thingโ€ฆโ€

โ€œEnough! Stop crying!โ€ Roger roared, his voice shrill. โ€œA lady of the upper classโ€”that's what youโ€™re proud of, and why you scorn Michelle's background. But have you considered why Michelle, despite her humble origins, raised a brilliant girl like Hannah? Look at youโ€”what kind of daughter have you raised? I canโ€™t believe I defended her this morning! The humiliation!โ€

โ€œJane would never do that!โ€ Esther insisted.

โ€œShut up!โ€ Roger raged. โ€œI'll kill her!โ€

โ€œRoger, no!โ€ Esther tried to stop him, but he pushed her to the ground. Mary rushed to help Esther, asking, โ€œAre you okay?โ€

Esther, enraged, slapped Mary. โ€œYou little bastard! How dare you touch me! If you hadn't suggested Jane hook up with Charles, this wouldn't have happened! I'll kill you!โ€

Esther lunged at Mary, but Roger, further enraged by the scene, pushed Esther to the ground. She looked at him in disbelief.

โ€œYou call Mary a bastard? You're worse!โ€

โ€œRoger!โ€ Esther screamed.

Lorie, from the lobby, shouted, โ€œEnough!โ€

Roger, simmering, swallowed his anger. โ€œJane will be punished for the shame sheโ€™s brought on our family. Esther, be quiet.โ€

โ€œLorie, I think it was Charlesโ€ฆโ€

โ€œI told you to shut up!โ€ Lorie snapped.

Esther held back her fury. Lorie then turned to Mary. โ€œMary, what are you doing here?โ€

Mary, covering her face, replied pitifully, โ€œI came to comfort Jane. Iโ€™m afraid sheโ€™ll be overcome with grief.โ€

โ€œWork is your priority!โ€ Lorie reprimanded.

โ€œOkay.โ€

โ€œGo to your room. I need to speak with your father.โ€

โ€œOkay.โ€

Mary left. Lorie dismissed her easily. Mary, however, didn't go to her room. She went to Janeโ€™s, where she heard Jane smashing things.

A vicious smile played on Maryโ€™s lips. She opened the door. "Sis."

โ€œFuck off!โ€ Jane screamed.

โ€œYou should fuck off,โ€ Mary sneered.

โ€œMary, you bitch!โ€

โ€œLet me guessโ€”Grandma and Dad are planning to cast you out for the disgrace youโ€™ve brought on the family.โ€

โ€œWhat are you talking about?โ€

โ€œYou're disgusting, shameless, and dissolute! I can't believe a fool like you is a Cooper!โ€ Mary unleashed her cruelty.

โ€œMary!โ€ Jane shrieked, aghast at Maryโ€™s audacity.

โ€œYou actually hooked up with Charles, as I suggested? Did you really think heโ€™d fall for you? If he were that easy, Iโ€™d have done it myself. You stupid idiot!โ€

โ€œMary, you bitch!โ€ Janeโ€™s eyes blazed.

She realized she'd fallen into Mary's trap.

โ€œIf I were you, Iโ€™d kill myself,โ€ Mary said calmly. โ€œI can't believe youโ€™re shameless enough to live.โ€

โ€œMary, Iโ€™ll kill you!โ€ Jane raged, threatening to destroy Mary.

This was precisely what Mary intended. As Jane lunged, Mary produced a knife. Jane, blinded by rage, didnโ€™t notice.

Mary grabbed Janeโ€™s arm and slashed her wrist. Jane gasped, trying to scream, but Mary silenced her. Jane fainted from blood loss.

Mary placed the knife beside Jane to stage a suicide, then screamed to attract attention.

Roger arrived first, seeing Mary kneeling beside the bloodied Jane. Esther and Lorie, followed by the servants, rushed in, shocked by the scene.

Esther collapsed, cradling Janeโ€™s body. โ€œJaneโ€ฆJane! Wake up!โ€ she cried.

Watching the chaos, a wicked satisfaction spread across Maryโ€™s face. She would finally replace Jane.
