Chapter 1137: How Much He Loved Her

Manuel was driving. Hearing Susan's comment, he partially agreed. Little Bunny's performance was either exceptionally good, or there was a genuine connection with Addison, the male lead. Sometimes, eyes don't lie.

"I'm going to call Theodore," Susan announced.

Manuel glanced at her.

"I want to know what's going on between him and Little Bunny," she continued, dialing the number.

Theodore sounded surprised. He was busy; Oscar, still recovering from a gunshot wound to his arm, hadn't returned to work as expected. Theodore suspected Oscar was trying to reconnect with Hannah after her absence.

"Why are you thinking about me?" Theodore asked, rising from his chair, stretching, and lighting a cigarette.

Susan was blunt. "Not specifically. Manuel and I saw Little Bunny's movie todayโ€”it's been a month since I gave birthโ€”and I thought of you because of your connection with her."

Theodore chuckled. It wasn't unusual anymore. Besides, supporting his wife's film was paramount.

"Was the movie good?"

"You haven't seen it yet?"

"Since Hannah's return, Oscar's been glued to her side. I haven't had any free time," Theodore explained. He felt he should make time soon, though; this was Little Bunny's first film after years of television work. He even considered booking a block of tickets for his friends.

"I think you should go watch it," Susan suggested.

"If I have time."

"Take your time."

"That goes without saying; my wife made the movie."

"Theodore," Susan's tone turned serious. "Do you like Little Bunny?"

"Are you free all day? Shouldn't you have a lot to do after having a baby?"

"I didn't think you'd treat her well, that you were just attracted to the novelty. But seeing how you've revolved around Little Bunny for the past six months, giving up your nightlife and even replacing your staff with all men, I wonder if you're serious."

"You investigated my personal life? Susan, are you in love with me?!"

Susan was speechless. "Theodore, have a little dignity. Do you think I want to know about your personal life? Manuel and I made a bet on how long you and Little Bunny would lastโ€”how long you'd 'hold your penis' for herโ€”and if you didn't, Manuel would give me a twerk."

"Susan, how bored are you and your husband? You used my feelings as a bet." Theodore took a drag of his cigarette. "Disappointed? I'm clean and pure now, a decent family man."

"You have the nerve to call yourself innocent?" Susan sneered. "You can't wash away your guilt."

"Susan."

"Okay, okay, I don't want to argue. I'm afraid of getting angry and losing my milk. I think Little Bunny doesn't like you. Figure it out. It's not that I'm afraid of hurting your feelingsโ€”you deserved to be dumped for how you treated herโ€”I just don't want you to make things difficult for her. She deserves happiness."

"I'm fine with Little Bunny. Why are you talking nonsense?" Theodore's tone was sharp.

Susan hung up.

Theodore felt a little down. He and Susan were always at odds, even resorting to long-distance calls to needle him.

He considered this, then dialed Little Bunny's number. "Are you in the Capital?"

They didn't live together, so he often didn't know her schedule. But she always came when he called, or let him know when she was available. She rarely refused.

"I am, but there's a celebration tonight for the film breaking 100 million at the box office. It probably won't end until after 11 pm. If that's too late, I can come tomorrow; I'm free then," Little Bunny replied.

"I'll wait for you tonight," he said.

"Okay."

They hung up. Little Bunny's mood wasn't good. Theodore called about once a week, sometimes two days in a row, but she sometimes missed calls due to work, receiving only two calls a month. She often felt resistant to answering.

"Little Bunny?" her assistant, Tanya, called.

"What's up?"

"Tonight's celebration is on a boat, and leaving early means it will be late. There will be fireworks at midnight; it'll likely end around 2 am. The sponsor informed us; they made promises during promotion. It'll be a busy schedule."

"Until 2 am?" Little Bunny was concerned; she'd told Theodore 11 pm.

"Yes, it starts at 8 pm."

"Okay."

She had to call Theodore, even though she no longer wanted to go.

"I might not make it; I just received urgent notice," she apologized.

Theodore was disappointed. He wanted to see her every day, but worried about her workload, so he restrained himself. Hearing she couldn't come made him unhappy, but his temper was better now. "It's okay, work first, come over tomorrow."

"Okay."

Feeling empty, Theodore called his assistant. "Arrange tickets for several showings of Little Bunny's movie, today. Everyone, even those off-duty, should go. I'll pay."
