Chapter 1189: Leaving

"I'll be moving out soon," Little Bunny said softly, blinking back tears.

"Okay," Theodore replied, his expression cold.

They ate lunch in silence. Theodore barely touched his food, preferring to drink. Little Bunny, on the other hand, ate steadily and quite a lot.

"Little Bunny, do you hate me?" Theodore asked abruptly.

"No."

Theodore looked unconvinced.

"I used to, but not anymore. I actually think you're a good person," Little Bunny said sincerely.

Theodore chuckled, a self-deprecating sound.

"I'm not being ironic. Aside from being indecisive with women, you're excellent in every other aspect. You're kind to friends, dedicated and responsible at work, and quite handsome," she said calmly. "Theodore, take care of yourself."

He paused, wine glass in hand.

"Smoke less. You smoke more when you're upset, and that's bad for you. You also have stomach problems, and drinking cold water doesn't help. We have a temperature-controlled water dispenser at home; set it to 45 degrees Celsius. And if you drink socially, have some bird's nest soup afterwardโ€”there are instant ones in the fridge you can heat with milk. Also, try to eat less spicy foodโ€ฆ"

"Enough," Theodore interrupted. "Little Bunny, I can take care of myself. Even if I can't, others will. You don't need to worry."

Little Bunny smiled faintly. She didn't doubt it; someone like Theodore wouldn't struggle.

She finished her lunchโ€”probably her largest meal ever. She needed to watch her diet to lose weight, but this was her last meal with Theodore, so she indulged.

"Theodore, I'm finished," she said.

"Mm."

"I'm going to pack."

She left.

Entering the bedroom, she took a deep breath. Her eyes were still red. This, she thought, was fate.

Back in the dining hall, the moment Little Bunny left, Theodore's vision blurred. He felt the agonizing sting of his hurtful words. He hadn't wanted her to feel guilty, to blame herself for leaving after his deliberate attempt to sever ties and ensure she had no lingering feelings. He wanted her to be free.

Half an hour later, Little Bunny emerged with her luggage. She hadn't much, thankfully; she'd planned to move everything over the next few days, but that wouldn't be possible now.

She dragged her suitcase toward the door; Theodore remained seated, head down.

"Theodore," she called.

"Hmm," he mumbled, continuing to eat.

"I'm leaving."

"Okay," he nodded, then remembered something. "Little Bunny."

"Hmm?"

He rose and approached her at the door.

"Give me back the necklace I gave you."

Little Bunny's lips tightened. Any remaining hope flickered out. "We shouldn't cling to things when we break up."

"Alright," she agreed, inwardly noting his childishness. He hadn't given it to her during their relationship, but as an apology. She reached for the necklace but struggled. "Theodore, can you help?"

He looked at her.

"I can't get it off," she said, turning her back.

He saw the platinum diamond necklace on her slender neckโ€”she hadn't worn it when he gave it to her. He didn't know when she'd put it on.

He carefully removed the necklace, avoiding her neck. Silently, he mouthed an apology she didn't hear. She turned, seeing his impassive face.

"Aren't you going to slap me before you leave?" he asked.

She was stunned, then smiled slightly. "No thanks. Breakups between adults are straightforward. Love is simply about liking or not liking someone, being compatible or not."

He smiled bitterly. He'd wanted a slap.

Why was this so hard?

"I'm leaving now, Theodore," she said, dragging her suitcase. "Goodbye."

"Goodbye, Little Bunny."

She left, fading into the distance. Adult breakups were too simple, too easy. He watched her go, feeling unforgivable for her obedience.

He lowered his eyes. A tear fell. He hadn't wanted to cry, but he couldn't help it.

He called someone. "Addison, take care of her."

"Mr. Wold," Addison replied. "I think you could explain things more clearlyโ€ฆ"

"Just listen," Theodore interrupted firmly. "Your drug use will be investigated. I'll help you leave show business early and go behind the scenes. I'll try to keep it quiet, but you must accept any legal consequences."

"I have nothing left," Addison replied gratefully. "Mr. Wold, thank you for everything. I never intended to act forever; I always planned to direct. This is just sooner than expected. Thank you."

"Promise me, you'll take care of Little Bunny."

Beyond that, nothing else mattered.
