Listen to this chapter:

Mason was so enraged by Hannah's arrogant remarks that he nearly jumped. "It doesn't mean you can do whatever you want just because you're the chairman's daughter," he shouted. "Do you know who I am?"

"No matter who you are, you are no better than me," Hannah retorted with overwhelming arrogance.

Her arbitrariness infuriated Mason; he wanted to slap her. "Just wait and see!" he said, then stormed off.

Hannah sneered. She had successfully provoked Mason and uncovered the identity of his hidden contactโ€”her primary objective. She contacted her spy, Rose: "Keep an eye on Mason and report his movements."

"Yes," Rose replied respectfully.

Mason rushed into Maxwell's office. "Mr. Watson, do you care about me? That mean girl, Hannah, wants to fire me!"

Seeing Mason's disrespectful entrance, Maxwell said unpleasantly, "Didn't I tell you not to come to me at the company?"

"If I don't come to you, I'll be fired!" Mason's anger boiled over.

"It's not up to her," Maxwell said disapprovingly. "That mean girl has no authority. Miguel fears me, let alone her. She can't fire my man."

"Young people are fearless," Mason said emotionally. "You saw her arrogance! She acts as she pleases because her father is the CEO! If she's reckless, I'll be the victim! I've worked here twenty years. If I'm fired, how will I find a comparable job?"

Maxwell sneered. "Don't worry. Even if she's reckless, I won't let you go. Just wait for my word."

"Don't fool me!"

"I can fool anyone but you, my father-in-law! As you know, I adore your daughter." Maxwell offered a leering smile.

After a moment, Mason nodded, but added, "Still, I can't lose this job."

"Okay," Maxwell replied.

Mason left.

Maxwell picked up the phone and called Roger. "I'm sorry for your loss."

Roger replied with a long sigh. He was still grieving, and requested a long leave. "What happened?" he asked, knowing Maxwell wouldn't call unless it was important.

"It's your niece, Hannah. She's causing trouble."

"What's the matter?" Roger's anger flared at the mention of Hannah.

Maxwell explained that Hannah had reshuffled the Sales Department staff and wanted to fire Mason.

"Hannah's so unruly!" Roger was furious.

"I'll use this chance to teach her a lesson. She humiliated us last timeโ€”I haven't forgotten!"

"I'm so angry, I could kill her!" Roger declared fiercely.

"Then let's teach her a lesson."

"Okay. But I can't come to work. You handle it." Roger was still distraught over Jane's death.

"No problem. I just wanted to keep you informed, so you wouldn't think I'd betrayed you," Maxwell said. "Take care of yourself. I'm sorry for your loss."

"Okay."

They hung up. Maxwell's face turned cold. He found Hannah's imperious and self-serving behavior intolerable.

In the Sales Department Director's office, Rose reported, "He went to Maxwell Watson's office."

"Maxwell?" Hannah was surprised. "No wonder he was so overbearing."

"Should I investigate their relationship further?"

"No, just finish the assignment."

"Yes."

As Rose left, Hannah immediately called Oscar. "It's rare for you to call. Missing me?" he chuckled.

Her confidence surprised her. "Give me Theodore's number," she said.

"...Are you sure?" Oscar was incredulous.

"Yes, Theodore," Hannah repeated, her tone flat.

After a pause, he gave her the number. Hannah wrote it down. "Thank you."

Before Oscar could respond, she hung up. He stared at the black screen.

"Looks like unrequited love..." Theodore teased.

Oscar glared, then fell silent. The phone rang.

Seeing the number, Theodore said pointedly, "Your wife!"

Oscar didn't respond. Theodore answered, "Hello, Hannah."

"You know my number?" Hannah was surprised.

"Oh, maybe," Theodore replied ambiguously.

Hannah always found Oscar's friends peculiar. "I need your help," she said.

"Yes?"

"Find out the connection between Maxwell Watson of Cooper Group and Mason Porter. Investigate any secrets."

"Okay," Theodore replied immediately.

Oscar nodded in agreement, having turned on speakerphone. Hannah was surprised by Theodore's immediate compliance. Before she could thank him, he asked, "Why ask me, not Oscar?"

"The World family has government and underworld connections. You know more people. Why bother Oscar? He'd come to you anyway," Hannah said matter-of-factly.

"You underestimate Oscar," Theodore laughed, smugly.

Oscar looked unwell.

"I don't underestimate him, but everyone has their strengths. He's not as skilled as you in personal relationships. I didn't want to trouble him," Hannah explained.

"You may have a misconception about him!" Theodore laughed.

"What?" Hannah was confused.

Theodore started to speak, but caught Oscar's warning glance. He stopped, saying, "I'll let you know."

"You'd better hurry. It's urgent," Hannah stated, aware of the time constraint.

"Okay."

"Thank you."

"No problem."

After hanging up, Theodore saw Oscar's displeased stare. "I'm going to solve it for your wife. See you later," he said, escaping before Oscar could respond.
