Chapter 191: The Accident (2) Janet's Revenge

"Hannah!" Oscar's anxious voice crackled from the other end of the phone. He trembled, clutching the receiver. "Hannah! Say something if you can hear me!" His distress was palpable.

Theodore watched, concerned. Oscar's panic was unlike anything he'd witnessed before. Oscar, seizing the phone, instructed Theodore before the latter could speak, "Something's happened to Hannah! Find any major car accidents between the Cooper Group and my manor. Locate the scene, check for security cameras, and retrieve any recordings. Get the private plane ready. We're flying back to Kensbury. Now!"

Theodore opened his mouth to ask a question but stopped, daunted by Oscar's face. "OK," he replied, pulling out his phone and moving aside to make calls.

Oscar immediately dialed another number. "Hello, Oscar!" a voice answered.

"Didn't Janet leave the Capital?" Oscar asked bluntly.

"I don't know," Thomas replied. "We broke up."

"Call Janet. Let me know when you reach her."

"What's wrong? Everything alright?" Thomas asked, his concern evident. He'd never heard Oscar so unnerved; his voice was shaky.

"I think Janet attacked Hannah."

Thomas was stunned. So, Janet had chosen this path.

"OK. I'll find Janet immediately," he said.

"Keep me informed, or call Theodore."

"OK."

Oscar hung up abruptly.

Theodore approached, his face serious. "I've dispatched men to the accident scene to obtain traffic camera footage. Oscar, are we leaving for Kensbury now?"

"Yes, now!"

Theodore, understanding Oscar's determination, refrained from further questioning. Saving Hannah was paramount.

"The car and private plane are ready. We can depart immediately upon reaching the airport. We should be in Kensbury within two hours," Theodore reported.

Two hoursโ€ฆ a lifetime in this situation. Oscar looked grim.

"Theodore, you stay in the Capital. My phone will be off during the flight. You'll oversee Hannah's rescue. Don't act rashly; wait for me to land! Hannah's safety is the absolute priority!"

Theodore nodded, watching Oscar's hurried departure. He wondered, if something truly had happened to Hannah, how much darker Oscar would become.

The night was eerily quiet.

Hannah awoke in an unfamiliar, dilapidated house, a flickering ancient lamp casting dim yellow light. She coughed, the dust choking her lungs. The cough brought sharp pain and the taste of blood. She'd been in a car accident, but she lived. She remembered being stabbed by Charles, seeing another world upon waking, but this was different.

The accident's pain was intense. Was her survival a miracle? She struggled to sit up, shivering, her body wet with blood. She was injured, severely, but alive.

She tried to remain calm, her survival instinct kicking in. She wouldn't die. Not again.

She stood slowly, her movements careful. She needed to reach a hospital, understanding her injuries were superficial but potentially fatal if untreated. She had to find a way to save herself.

As she prepared to leave, she heard a distant creak โ€“ the iron gate opening. The sound was chilling in the silence.

Seeing the woman approaching, Hannah felt a surge of dread.

"What? Are you out of your mind?" Janet sneered, a triumphant smile on her face.

Hannah bit her lip, fighting to ground herself in the pain, reminding herself this wasn't a dream. "You didn't leave," Hannah rasped, her voice hoarse.

"No," Janet said, her voice laced with pride. Two large, menacing men stood behind her.

Janet clearly saw Hannah's fear and laughed cruelly. "I wouldn't want to miss seeing you like this, would I? A pity to leave."

Hannah remained outwardly calm, buying time. She believed Oscar would come for her. He would save her.
