Chapter 205: The Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
After two days of intensive work, the reopening of the Light Building arrived on Saturday. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was scheduled for ten-ten, a seemingly perfect time.
Hannah awoke early, finding Oscar still absent. She went downstairs for breakfast, her usual habit of checking her phone forgotten in her preoccupied state. Repeated checks yielded no message from Oscar Wells. She considered texting him but ultimately decided against it. "It doesn't matter," she thought. "The ribbon-cutting guests haven't been publicly announced anyway. If he's too busy, so be it."
After breakfast, Hannah hurried to the building. A scheduled hair and makeup appointment added to the pressure. Near the door, she found Jimmy, visibly injured. His presence after only two days of recovery worried her.
"Ms. Wells, please get in the car," he said.
"Why don't you take a few more days off?" she replied.
"It's all right now," Jimmy stated flatly.
"Are you afraid Oscar will dismiss you?" Hannah asked bluntly, acknowledging his substantial salary.
"No," Jimmy denied vehemently. "I assure you he won't, and that's not the reason. I've recovered." Hannah reflected on his unwavering loyalty, recognizing his value. She examined him carefully.
Jimmy drove cautiously, a stark contrast to his previous driving habits following a recent accident.
Arriving at the building, Hannah joined the staff in the dressing room. She selected a red dress, the vibrant color complementing her fair skin. Her beauty lent itself to diverse styles.
Distractedly clutching her phone, she finally sent Oscar a message:
Will you come back? To cut the ribbon.
The silence that followed was protracted. Resigning herself to his absence, she focused on the ceremony preparations.
Once the preparations were complete, Hannah proceeded to the entrance. A vibrant scene unfolded: gleaming cars, a red carpet, abundant floral arrangements, and a throng of reporters. Her arrival sparked immediate excitement.
"Hannah, I heard you achieved 88% of the Light Building's business attraction plan in less than a month, up from only 20% initially. Can you explain your success?" a reporter asked.
"That's a trade secret," Hannah joked, breaking the ice. "It's about honesty, sincerity, and trust. We demonstrate utmost sincerity, fostering business trust and achieving win-win cooperation. And I'll add an advertisement: At Cooper Group, integrity extends to all our partners and consumers equally. We hope they'll enjoy their time here; we never mislead our customers."
"What about Starlight Mall, your competitor?"
"Starlight Mall is temporarily closed, so we have nothing to say. I believe they've found their own direction, and we look forward to future cooperation."
"Janet Burke, who oversaw Starlight Mall's commercial project, recently passed away. Your thoughts?"
"I'm sorry to hear about Ms. Burke's passing," Hannah sighed. "But the deceased should rest in peace. We shouldn't judge her further." Her response left the reporters momentarily silent.
"Little Bunny is the Light Building's spokesperson? You spent a lot of money on this endorsement, didn't you?"
"Destiny. I was immediately impressed by Miss Little Bunny's image and temperament. She's a perfect fit, and an excellent choice. She's dedicated, and I believe we'll progress together."
"Ms. Hannah, will Oscar Wells attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony?" a reporter suddenly interjected, shifting the focus to gossip.
It's 9:40 a.m. He has half an hour. He probably won't come.
"No, he won't," Hannah answered.
"Work commitments?"
"Yes," Hannah nodded, choosing brevity. She knew the press; silence was as damaging as excessive explanation.
"Hannah..."
"Excuse me, the interview is over. Ms. Hannah needs to prepare for the ribbon-cutting. Thank you," Rose intervened, clearly instructed by Hannah.
Hannah politely bowed and left for the platform. Little Bunny, in a white floor-length dress adorned with pink lace, arrived, radiating a charming and playful aura.
"You're so gorgeous," Hannah complimented.
"Thank you, Ms. Hannah. You amaze me too. You're even prettier than the stars," Little Bunny replied sincerely.
Numerous dignitaries arrived, including Miguel Cooper, chairman of Cooper Group; the general manager of Light Building; and the Chairman of the Kensbury City Business Association.
At 10:05, they were invited to the platform, and the host began introductions. At 10:08, a red supercar executed a dramatic drift, coming to a stop before the crowd. A man in a black suit emerged from the passenger seat โ tall, handsome, and strikingly captivating.
He strode purposefully toward Hannah, who was utterly astonished. She had anticipated his absence; instead, he arrived with dramatic flair.
Couldn't he have been more modest? Many women in the audience were captivated.
"Perfect timing," Oscar smiled at Hannah. His smile was undeniably captivating.
