Listen to this chapter:

The roomโ€™s temperature gradually increased. Hannah waited, her body still trembling slightly. She couldn't tell if it was anger or nervousness; her heart pounded violently, almost leaping into her throat. Then, she heard a burst of laughterโ€”a seemingly uncontrollable sneer.

Opening her eyes, she saw Oscar had left the large bed, a bizarre smile on his face. "What are you looking forward to?" he asked.

Hannah gritted her teeth. Who the hell would look forward to this?

"Don't worry," Oscar said, sizing her up. "Last night, youโ€ฆ"

Hannah unconsciously clutched the quilt tighter. She didn't even know who had dressed her in men's pajamas.

"Last night, you threw up everywhere, and I really wasn't interested in doing anything to you," Oscar stated plainly.

Hannah's face subtly changed. Being unwilling was one thing; being disliked was another.

"So, my innocence is still intact," Oscar said, his lips curling.

Hannah thought, Would a guy like you still have intact innocence?

"The bathroom's over there," Oscar continued. "There are unused towels and toothbrushes. Go downstairs after washing; I have something to talk to you." He turned and left without hesitation, as if uninterested in her.

Hannah stared blankly, then looked down at the oversized men's pajamas. Damn it. The thought of Oscar changing her clothes infuriated her.

She lifted the quilt and went into the bathroom. A pink towel and toothbrush sat on the sink, seemingly prepared for her. Anger burned, yet she felt a warmth stemming from Oscar's thoughtfulness. He was an attractive man; no wonder so many women desired him. If not for her extra ten years of life experience, she felt she couldn't face him rationally.

She quickly rinsed her mouth and washed her face, tidying her appearance. In the large mirror, her face was pale. She'd drunk far too muchโ€”more than ever beforeโ€”and still had a severe headache. She wondered how women like Susan, who got drunk three or five days a week, survived.

Bracing herself, she left the room. Oscar seemed to notice her arrival. He elegantly wiped his lips and asked, "Aren't you hungry?"

Her face flushed as she regained her composure and walked to him. He stood to pull out a dining chair for herโ€”a courteous gesture Charles also performed, though always for show.

Hannah sat opposite him. Before she could speak, a middle-aged man appeared, respectfully serving breakfast. "Mr. Wells said you were drunk last night, so he asked me to make tea for you."

Hannah was momentarily stunned. "Thank you," she replied politely.

"No problem. Enjoy your meal, Miss Cooper," the man said, leaving.

Hannah watched him go. "Mester," Oscar said, introducing him, "he's the housekeeper."

"Okay," Hannah responded; it didn't concern her.

Oscar remained silent. Hannah had no appetite and ignored the porridge, going straight to the point. "Did Theodore manage to take the photo last night?"

"I'll tell you after you drink your tea."

Hannah told herself not to get angry. Oscar was only 25; she was 32. She wouldn't get angry with a younger man. She drank her tea.

"Could you tell me now?" she asked.

"Yes," Oscar replied calmly.

"Did he sleep with Jane?" Hannah asked.

"Yes."

"In a hotel?"

"No, an apartment suite in a high-class residential area," Oscar said, slowly eating his breakfast. "I've asked Theodore to investigate. It wasn't Charles's account, but Sandra's."

Hannah knew the address.

"Since you know what Charles is like, you should know he doesn't have only one woman," Oscar said indifferently.

She wasn't entirely unmoved. She'd been with Charles for years, since her grandfather arranged a childhood betrothal. She'd thought he was the best choice and fallen for him innocently. Butโ€ฆ her heart was still being trampled on. She couldn't even comfort herself by pretending her last life was a dream.

"How did you know?" she asked, knowing it wasn't a dream.

Oscar finished his breakfast, put down his cutlery, and wiped his lips. "Didn't you say you know me well?"

Hannah was speechless.

"It seems Miss Cooper still doesn't know me well enough," Oscar said. "You still have to put in more effort."

His words seemed suggestive, but Hannah ignored them. "Give me the video filmed last night." She didn't want to delve into other matters; their relationship was a cooperative one. A win-win situation was all that mattered.

Oscar handed her his phone. A video was displayed on the screen, and Hannah tapped to play it.
