โSo, are you going to leave in my clothes?โ Oscar asked with a wry smile.
It was only then Hannah realized she was wearing his clothes.
She gritted her teeth. โWhere are my clothes?โ
โDumped.โ
โOscar Wells!โ
โItโs all your vomit on them. Are you sure you still want them?โ Oscar raised his eyebrows.
She could only leave in his clothes or be naked. Someday, she would explode with anger.
Trying to remain composed, she said, โIโll have someone send you a new set by tomorrow.โ
Hannah decided to accept his clothes and compensate him later.
โThat wonโt be necessary,โ Oscar smiled. โIโve prepared a set for you, Miss Cooper.โ
Hannah was speechless. Why hadnโt he said so?
โItโs in the cloakroom to the right of the room you slept in.โ
Hannah quickly went upstairs. Oscar smiled, watching her go.
Inside the cloakroom, Hannah put on the clothes Oscar had prepared. He had an eye for beauty; she was surprised how well the underclothing fit. Last night, Oscar must have done something to her, but Hannah decided not to dwell on it. Should she even look back at him?
She went downstairs. Oscar was on the sofa, watching TV. Seeing her hurried approach, he asked faintly, โDoes it fit?โ
โCanโt you see?โ Despite her resolve to stay calm, it was impossible with Oscar.
โI canโt,โ Oscar said, then looked pointedly at her chest.
Hannah sharply pulled her coat tighter. She didnโt want to deal with him anymore and ran out of the villa.
As she left, she saw an expensive black car and a man in a black suit and white gloves.
โGood morning, Miss Cooper. I am Jimmy, Mr. Wellsโ driver. Iโve been instructed to take you back,โ the man said respectfully.
Oscar always had a way to soothe her after infuriating her. Hannah smiled faintly and said, โThank you.โ
โYouโre welcome, Miss Cooper. Please have a seat.โ He opened the back car door for her.
Hannah sat. Jimmy returned to the driverโs seat and drove away.
As she left, Hannah glanced back at the villa. It was luxurious, and it seemed Oscar lived alone. Although Oscar had been her nemesis in her previous life, she knew his capabilities, not his personal life. She didnโt know if he lived with the Wells family. She felt he was hiding something. Had she known everything about him in her previous life?
โJimmy.โ
โYes, Miss Cooper.โ
โDoes Oscar have a bad relationship with his family?โ Hannah asked. Otherwise, why would he live alone?
โIโm only responsible for driving Mr. Wells, and I donโt know much about his personal matters,โ Jimmy replied tactfully.
Hannah nodded, understanding she wouldnโt get any answers. She looked out the window. Kensbury Cityโs prosperity was evident. Ten years ago, it was already full of high-rises. Hannah watched silently, gazing at the city she missed.
Her phone rang. She answered, โCharles.โ
โHannah, why did you turn off your phone?โ Charles sounded anxious.
Hannah sneered, remembering Charles hugging and making love with Jane last night.
โI was drunk, and my phone died,โ she said.
โThen where were you last night? I didnโt see you when I left,โ Charles asked.
So, he was questioning her now?
โI went to Susanโs house.โ
โDidnโt Susan leave later?โ Charles questioned.
He was astute, noticing details that benefited him. Fortunately, Hannah knew him well. โI left later too. I went to the washroom and fell asleep. I woke up and only Susan and Henry were left, so I went to Susanโs house. By the way, why didnโt you call me when you left?โ
After a pause, he explained, โI was drunk and sent home in a daze. I just woke up and called you.โ
โIs that so?โ
โI worried about you so much.โ
โIโm fine now, and Iโm on my way home.โ
โWe canโt drink like that again,โ Charles said seriously.
โOkay,โ Hannah agreed readily. In the future, he wouldnโt have the chance to drink with her again.
โGo home and rest. I have to go to work.โ
โOkay.โ Hannah was about to hang up. She didnโt want to deal with him anymore; he disgusted her.
โHannah,โ Charles called, his voice filled with affection.
โHuh?โ Hannah was impatient.
โI love you,โ Charles said slowly.
Hannah smiledโa beautiful, ironic smile. Heโd said those words many times in her previous life. What had he thought each time? Probably that she was a fool who believed him.
She gathered her composure and replied, โMe too.โ
โI want to marry you right away,โ Charles said sincerely. โWhen Iโm done with this, Iโll fully concentrate on our wedding. Hannah, I promise to make you the most gorgeous and happiest bride in Northfield! Iโll make all the women envious!โ
Envious of her marrying the vilest man in the world? She wouldnโt repeat that mistake.
