Chapter 482: Attract His Attention

Hannah was pinned against the chair, their kisses fervent and unrestrained. She couldn't help but grip his arms as their tongues met, feeling as though they were the only two people in the world. A sense of exhilaration washed over her. Then, a voice, laced with embarrassment and panic, interrupted: "Oh, I am so sorryโ€ฆ"

Startled, Hannah pushed him away, but Oscar, captivated by the unfinished kiss, lingered. Her lips were too tempting to resist. He licked his own lips as she pushed him away, a sensual gesture that caused Hannah's cheeks to flush. She struggled to regain composure, subtly signaling for him to leave.

Reluctantly, Oscar complied, rising from the desk and moving to a nearby couch. There, he found Jimmy, seated with an embarrassed blush. During the kiss, Jimmy had felt trapped, unsure how to escape unnoticed. Haunted by embarrassment, he remained motionless, his back to them.

Noticing Oscar's gaze, Jimmy quickly declared, "I saw nothing."

"But your blush speaks volumes," Oscar smiled.

Jimmy's embarrassment intensified. Hannah, still reeling from the passionate kisses, was too flustered to engage in their conversation. Taking a deep breath, she finally calmed enough to see Mary standing awkwardly at the door, looking guilty and flustered, Rose beside her. Rose quickly explained upon making eye contact with Hannah, "We just knocked." They hadn't intended to interrupt.

Hannah changed the subject, asking, "What's the matter?"

"Ms. Hannah, I'd like to report on the sales department's progress on the project you assigned at the last meeting," Mary said.

"Bring me the files," Hannah replied, regaining her composure.

Before Rose could leave, Hannah added, "Get me a cup of coffee."

"But Ms. Hannah, you said you weren't drinking coffee anymore," Rose said, surprised.

"It's for Oscar," Hannah replied, continuing to read the files, avoiding his gaze to maintain her focus. Her heart fluttered at the thought of him being there with her.

"No, thank you. I'll have whatever she's having. We need to plan for the baby," Oscar stated.

Hannah blushed despite her head being lowered over the files. Mary noticed. She'd previously believed their marriage was purely transactional, lacking love. Now, she knew she was wrong. Hearing Oscar had arrived, sheโ€™d seized the opportunity to report her work, hoping to catch his attention. She hadn't anticipated witnessing their passionate embrace. Seeing that undeniable affection shattered her previous assumptions.

Mary gritted her teeth, recognizing the challenge ahead in winning Oscar's heart. She suppressed her emotions. Then she heard Rose ask, "Mr. Wells, Ms. Hannah drinks milk daily. Are you sure?"

"Of course," Oscar nodded.

"Okay," Rose replied respectfully, hurrying off. Returning with a glass of warm milk, she served it to Oscar with deference.

"Thank you," Oscar responded politely.

"Wishing you a healthy baby."

Oscar smiled, pleased by the well-wishing. Rose, usually unconcerned with men, paused, captivated by his charm.

"Ahem," Hannah cleared her throat.

Rose hastily retreated, fearing dismissal. Though she didn't harbor romantic feelings for Oscar, his charm was undeniable. His smile broadened slightly at Hannahโ€™s interruption.

Hannah returned to the report. "To be honest, the results are unsatisfactory," she commented. "The consumption patterns and market analysis lack clear conclusions. I require not just the plan, but results. And I see no defined targets. A perfect plan requires clear targets."

Mary felt the criticism keenly, finding it hard to deny Hannahโ€™s assessment. She felt targeted.

"Okay...I'll correct it," Mary replied resignedly, biting her lip.

"Mary, you've been in this position for some time. Without improvement, I can't guarantee promotion, and your current performance risks your position. You need to consider this."

"All right," Mary nodded.

"You may return to work."

"Yes."

As Mary left, her heel knocked against a chair, causing her to stumble. The noise attracted Hannah, Oscar, and Jimmy's attention, but no one offered assistance. Mary struggled to her feet, but looked unsteady.

"Jimmy," Hannah instructed.

"Yes, Mrs. Wells."

"Take her to the hospital."

"No, thank you. I'm fine," Mary quickly responded.

It was her ploy to attract Oscar's attention, a goal achieved. She was adept at captivating men, but preferred a strategic approach, learning from past mistakes.
