Venus pulled Hannah to sit beside her.

"Hannah, you and Oscar married in a hurry. You hadn't properly seen each other several times before the wedding. I like you very much. I'm so glad you married Oscar. Let me introduce you to our family." Venus was enthusiastic, speaking casually to avoid embarrassing Hannah.

Hannah nodded. "Yeah."

"This is Oscar's brother, David, and my daughter-in-law, Nancy. She enjoys talking to people."

"Nice to meet you both," Hannah greeted them.

"Nice to meet you, Hannah," they replied.

Nancy kindly touched Hannah's hand. "We're family now. Don't worry, just be yourself."

Hannah smiled.

"And this is Thomas. He and Oscar are twins, though the most unlike twins you'll ever meet," Venus said, smiling. The disparity between them was unexpected. Hannah hadn't known they were twins, likely due to Oscar's many scandals contrasting with Thomas's low profile. Their appearances and personalities differed drastically. Oscar initially seemed wild and arrogant, while Thomas was introverted, mature, and steady.

"That's his girlfriend, Janet Burke," Venus continued, indicating the woman beside Thomas.

"Nice to meet you, Hannah," Thomas greeted her gently.

Janet smiled, taking Thomas's arm. "I attended your wedding yesterday. You're even more beautiful in person."

"Thank you," Hannah replied, smiling.

Venus gestured to a young woman. "And that's my youngest daughter, Karen Wells. She's twenty-two, your age."

Hannah was surprised. She'd never heard of the Wells family having a daughter, only three sons. Karen, dressed in pink, looked barely eighteen, appearing more like a high school student.

"Nice to meet you, Hannah," Karen said softly, her voice demure. She seemed as sweet as a little rabbit.

"Nice to meet you, Karen," Hannah replied. "You look so young; I thought you were still in high school."

Venus explained, "Everyone says that. Karen was quite ill as a child, so the doctor advised limiting her exposure. She was mostly educated at home. Fortunately, she didn't mind. Perhaps because of her limited social interaction, she looks much younger than her peers."

Hannah agreed.

Karen, her face slightly flushed, whispered, "Hannah, I have a gift for you." Her shyness revealed her limited social experience. She presented a delicate gift box.

Hannah accepted it. Upon opening it, a pleasant scent and elegant music filled the air.

Karen explained, "It's a music box I designed, with lavender fragrance. You can keep it by your bed. The music and scent will help you relax and sleep."

Hannah was impressed by Karen's thoughtfulness. "I love it, thank you!"

"I'm glad you like it. I was worried you might not," Karen said, shyly.

"It's a precious gift to me."

Karen smiled sweetly.

Hannah held the music box, resuming her conversation with others. The Wells family, despite its size, was easygoing, a stark contrast to the Sawyers' pretentiousness. Hannah wondered if insecurity fueled arrogance, while confidence fostered humility. The Sawyers, among Northfield's four most powerful families, lacked the confidence to match their outward show of superiority, constantly seeking validation. This self-deception was apparent; true respect wasn't built on appearances but on genuine strength. The Sawyers' failing investments and declining income threatened their status, leading them to seek leverage through the Cooper family, even pursuing political careers. Hannah, however, knew their future. The Sawyers couldn't imagine that she knew what lay ahead.

The Wells family continued their conversation. Oscar yawned. "I didn't sleep well last night. I'm going upstairs for a nap."

Venus considered scolding him for disrupting the mood, but realizing their wedding night likely involved some indulgence, she said leniently, "Go to bed. Take Hannah with you. You didn't sleep well, and she probably didn't either."

Hannah blushed at the innocent statement.

Oscar joked, "Mom knows everything."

"Don't be silly. Take Hannah upstairs to rest."

Oscar added, "I'll try not to wear Hannah out."
