Chapter 772: The Transfer of the Cooper Group

Susan gazed at Manuel, who answered her while tapping on his keyboard. This made her feel a little sad, though she quickly dismissed it. It was better this way; it avoided awkwardness and reduced her stress.

"I'm leaving now. I'll be in your office tomorrow?" she asked.

"You can stay in your current office. I'll just change the door sign," he replied.

As general manager, she would now occupy an office more luxurious than the chairman's.

"I'm not used to moving offices," Manuel said indifferently.

"Oh," Susan responded, choosing not to retort. She thought, He is the boss, but the change in status felt bitter and unprepared for.

"Well, I'm leaving now," she repeated.

Manuel nodded slightly.

Susan softly closed the door behind her as she left, then sighed heavily. It doesn't matter where I work. Perhaps he'll never look me in the eye again, she mused.

On the other side of the door, Manuel leaned back in his chair the moment the door closed. He'd been suppressing his emotions since Susan entered, despite believing he'd lost any affection for her. Yet, he cared about her decisions. He took a deep breath, attempting to refocus on his work, but fell silent upon seeing the screen. He'd been typing Susan's name, it filling the screen unknowingly. After a long silence, he deleted the text.

A week later, Hannah continued her work routine. Oscar hadn't contacted her, not even in Kensbury City. She wasn't sure if he was keeping his promise or simply too busy; he was about to become a political icon in Northfield. She followed political news, retaining some interest despite their divorce, though she didn't dwell on it. Her focus remained on the Cooper Group.

Tomorrow, she would announce a major development. Only a handful of employees knew about the impending acquisition. She meticulously reviewed her preparations in her office when the phone rang.

"Hi, Manuel," she answered.

"I'm downstairs."

"Come up."

"To your office?"

"My father's. I've already spoken with him."

"Okay."

Manuel arrived to sign the transfer contract. Because of Hannah's close relationship with Manuel, the multi-billion dollar transaction proceeded smoothly.

Hannah joined Miguel in his office; Manuel followed shortly after.

"Good morning, Mr. Cooper," Manuel greeted.

Miguel still harbored resentment. He'd been trying to accept the transfer, but the reality remained difficult. Hannah, sensing his mood, remained silent, allowing him to vent his frustration.

Manuel looked visibly embarrassed. "Mr. Cooper, could you please review the contract? I'm happy to make amendments if necessary."

"How?" Miguel raised an eyebrow.

"Please point out any areas of concern."

"Everything! What concerns me most is the simplicity with which my company has been transferred to Oscar!"

Manuel, ill-equipped to negotiate with older generations, looked to Hannah for help, but she avoided his gaze.

He compressed his lips. "I don't know if Hannah has informed you about Oscar's situationโ€ฆ"

"There's nothing to say!" Miguel interrupted. "He's an outsider now!"

Manuel's embarrassment was palpable. Hannah couldn't help but laugh, secretly impressed by her father's performance.

"Dad, give Manuel a break. It's not his fault. Just sign the contract." She knew the decision was final and they shouldn't make Manuel uncomfortable.

Miguel sighed, understanding Hannah's efforts to prepare him. He was still unconvinced, but he didn't want to upset his daughter. Swallowing his pain, he signed the contract.

Hannah felt a pang of sadness but maintained a composed demeanor. She handed the signed contract to Manuel. "It's done."

"Thank you, Hannah," Manuel said sincerely, relieved to avoid further conflict.

Hannah smiled faintly. "No worries." She downplayed the significance of the event, making it seem commonplace.

"I won't bother you and Mr. Cooper. I'm leaving now."

"I'll announce the transfer tomorrow and leave the rest to you, okay?"

"Of course."

"Take care," Hannah said with a smile.

Manuel departed. Once in his car, he called Oscar.

"Oscar, I signed the Cooper Group transfer contract today."

"All went well?" Oscar asked quietly.

"Yes. Hannah even helped secure her father's signature. I expected problems, but everything went smoothly. She seems to have anticipated everything."

He felt Oscar understood his implication.

"Okay."

"Tomorrow or the day after?" Manuel changed the subject, knowing he needed to stop there.

"The day after tomorrow."

"Why not tomorrow? Hannah officially leaves the Cooper Group tomorrowโ€ฆ"

"That depends."

Manuel didn't press further, recognizing Oscar's capability and judgment.

"One last thing. Hannah is visibly pregnant."
