AURORA
I rushed to my feet and staggered back towards Dane. Feeling dizzy, I was caught and held close by him.
“Babe… I want you to be calm… I’m sure everything is okay,” he said.
I faced him. “Okay?” I asked. “Didn’t you hear what Piper just said?”
Dane took a deep breath, cupping my face. “Hey… Evander would never harm Tristan… he’s like a father to him.”
I pursed my lips, keeping my eyes on Dane. “After all he has done?”
“What did he do?” Dane asked. “Where’s the solid proof? I won’t believe any of this unless Evander confesses he’s a traitor, okay?”
I huffed, nodded, and sank onto his chest as he pulled me closer. This time, I chose to listen to Dane. He understood the father-son relationship. If he says Evander can’t hurt Tristan, I choose to believe him. Plus, I really hoped all this was false. I don’t want Evander as an enemy; he’s too close to the kids.
Evander stuck his tongue out at Dane, and I couldn’t help but laugh; they were behaving childishly. Evander shut the door, and Dane groaned, “Finally, I have you all to myself,” he said, starting to kiss my neck.
I giggled and pushed him away. “Stop that tickling.”
He shook his head and clicked his tongue. “Aurora, Aurora, Aurora,” he called, pinching my nose. “Tell me why you don’t want me to touch you… it seems like you’ve found another lover…”
“Shh,” I placed my index finger on his lips, cutting him off. “Don’t say that… I only stopped you because of your health conditions. You are the only one for me, Dane.”
He raised a brow. “Babe, I’m totally fine, but why don’t you show me how I am for you, then?”
He lifted me into his arms as he walked to the bed. “No… put me down,” I screamed.
Dane smiled. “Of course, I will,” he said, placing me gently on the bed.
Evander nodded. Dane shook his head. “Why? We trusted you.”
Evander sighed. “There was this lady who tricked me into doing it… I think her name is Calla… she took me to draw those map signs… since I was good at it.”
Anger boiled inside me. “And you think obliging without consulting me was right? Tell me… what was the catch? What did she offer you?”
Evander looked up, and our eyes met. “Her word… she gave me her word.”
“Her word?” Dane asked, confused.
“Yes… she said it was for marketing purposes… to increase the pack’s finances by bringing in business deals.”
I furrowed my brows, staring at him. “Business deals?”
Dane gave me an “I told you so” look. Evander coughed and continued. “I found out later she was a bad person, so I took the papers and everything I’d worked on and buried them with some other things I’d seen in her room… in the woods.”
I stared at him speechlessly. I had misunderstood and accused him wrongly.
“Evander… I thought you were a traitor…”
“I would rather die by torture than give you into the arms of your enemy.”
I got up and walked to Evander. He opened his arms, and I hugged him tightly. “I’m sorry for not trusting you… I’m sorry for slapping you.”
He ruffled my hair, chuckling. “I don’t blame you for not trusting me… considering all you’ve been through… and that slap was more like a little sting.”
I widened my eyes, raising my hand towards his cheek. “I’ll make sure this one hurts.”
Dane caught my hand, preventing a second slap. I playfully gritted my teeth at Evander.
“You’re lucky… Dane saved you from my clutches.”
Evander laughed, about to ruffle my hair again when Dane pulled me from his hug. “Enough… I’d like to take my wife back now… Thank you.”
I raised my brows at Dane, who childishly hugged me from behind, his hard cock rubbing my backside. I could tell he was still horny.
“Fine… she’s all yours… one day, I too will find my better half,” Evander grumbled, heading for the door.
“Goodnight, Evander,” Dane mocked, waving goodbye.
