Chapter 318
Dane
I stretched on the bed, searching for Aurora with my hands without opening my eyes. But I couldn't feel her. I opened my eyes, squinting as sunlight from the window hit them.
โBabe?โ I called, swinging my legs over the bed. I looked around the room, but she wasn't there. I found my clothes on the floor, along with Aurora's robe. I picked it up and sniffed it, a smile touching my lips as I remembered last nightโtaking Aurora as if it were our wedding night.
I put the dirty clothes in the laundry basket and went to take a bath.
I walked out of my room, the sound of pack children playing filling my ears. Thinking of Tristan and Seraphina, I went to their room, finding it empty. I heard approaching footsteps and turned to see a maid. โGood morning, Alpha,โ she said, head bowed.
Chapter 318
I followed his gaze to his bleeding knees. โOf course youโre hurt here tooโฆโ I said, my eyes on Tristan.
โDaneโฆ I didnโt mean toโฆโ
I raised a hand to Sera, hoisting Tristan onto my shoulder. Taking her hand, I said, โIโll be going to the pack doctor.โ
Auroraโs jaw dropped. โPack doctor?โ she asked.
โOf course, should I take him to the farmer instead?โ I snapped, my voice sharper than intended.
She pursed her lips and shook her head. โI meant, I only need to clean and bandage the wounds; you donโt need to take him to the pack doctor for that.โ
I stared at her, my lips clamped shut. Knowing I might say something hurtful, I turned and left with the children.
Does she not care about these kids as much as I do? First, she takes them to the training ground during training hours, then she teaches them a dangerous stunt that injures Tristan, and now she's going to treat it so casually, risking infection?
Has Aurora become such a good Luna and pack leader that sheโs forgotten how to care for these children? Has she failed as a mother?
I turned back, seeing her staring. I blinked and looked away, continuing to the pack doctorโs.
