“Yes… you,” Evander replied. “I want to check on Warrick, and I know Piper will be there, so I’ll apologize to them both.”

My shoulders slumped. “Right now?” I looked at the paperwork on my desk, needing completion before dusk. I hadn’t been able to accomplish much since this morning. Everyone wanted to see me today, keeping me occupied. I scratched my head, pursed my lips, and nodded as an idea struck.

“Fine,” I grunted. “Let’s go.”

I reached for my phone and dialed Trajan. “Hey, Trajan,” I said as he answered.

“Yes, Luna,” he replied.

“I’m leaving the office now… could you check my desk? Keep the important work and remove the less important tasks for me to finish tomorrow.”

“Noted… Luna.”

I ended the call and stood. Evander rose and left the office.

“Are you coming?” I asked Dane.

“No, but…” he said, standing and adjusting his belt. He approached, grabbed my waist, pulled me close, and lowered his head until our noses touched.

I held my breath, locking eyes with him. His gaze traveled down my face; he grazed my cheeks with his fingers, then ran his thumb over my lips. “If you give me a kiss, I’ll definitely come.”

I narrowed my eyes. “Is that some kind of bribe?”

He shook his head and touched his nose to mine again. “Not a bribe… It’s my right.”

I scoffed, pushing him away. “Are you trying to bully me into a kiss?”

He raised his head, his eyes scanning me. “You know I could lock this door and remove your panties if I wanted… but the kiss is just a little compensation.”

I shook my head, moving toward the door. Dane grabbed my arm, slammed the door shut, pressed his back against it, and pulled me against him.
