Chapter 330

Dane

Damn itโ€ฆ she tricked me. โ€œAurora, how could you?โ€ I muttered, rushing toward the door only to see her slip outside with a smug grin. How did she even open the door so quickly?

โ€œYou little trickster,โ€ I growled, leaning against the wall. I wanted to go after her, but looking down at myself, I groaned. This is all my fault. Why did I get carried away? Bending her over like that, catching a glimpse of herโ€ฆ Now Iโ€™m stuck. I sighed in frustration, running a hand through my hair.

โ€œDane, arenโ€™t you coming?โ€ Aurora called from outside, her voice light with amusement.

โ€œSlโ€™s doing this on purpose. I know it,โ€ I muttered. โ€œYou both go on ahead,โ€ I called back. โ€œIโ€™ll catch up.โ€

โ€œOh, really? Is there something youโ€™re hiding?โ€ she teased, her voice full of mischief.

I clenched my jaw, my smile fading. This girl will be the death of me. โ€œNo,โ€ I replied, trying to sound casual.

Moments later, her head popped back into the room. Leaning against the doorframe, her eyes glinted with mischief as she glanced down, clearly noticing my predicament. โ€œAre you sure?โ€ she asked, smirking.

โ€œYes, Aurora. Iโ€™m sure,โ€ I said aloud, but in my mind, I pleaded for her to stop tormenting me. I clasped my hands together in a silent prayer, pointing at my obvious issue and begging her with my eyes.

Her smirk widened. Licking her lips dramatically, she tilted her head. โ€œSorry, Mr. Montague. Your offer looksโ€ฆ tempting, but I just wanted to poke at your ego.โ€

I let out a defeated groan as she stepped away, leaving me utterly exasperated. โ€œHow about I put my โ€˜egoโ€™ inside you?โ€ I shot back, gritting my teeth.

Auroraโ€™s eyes widened in shock, and she turned away quickly. My stomach sank remembering Evander was standing outside.

โ€œShit,โ€ I muttered, running my hand through my hair.

โ€œNo, he didnโ€™t mean it like that,โ€ I heard Aurora say to Evander, trying to smooth things over.

โ€œOโ€ฆkay?โ€ Evander replied, clearly unconvinced.

Their footsteps receded, leaving me alone in the room, simmering with frustration. Dropping into the chair behind Auroraโ€™s desk, I rubbed my temples and shook my legs, waiting for my body to calm down.

Auroraโ€ฆ I swear, Iโ€™m going to get you back for this.

Five minutes later, I glanced down and sighed in relief. The situation had resolved itself, and I stood to leave. The door swung open, and my heart leapt, hoping it was Aurora.

But no. It was Trajan. My excitement deflated instantly.

โ€œYou?โ€ I asked, unable to hide my disappointment.

Trajan raised an eyebrow. โ€œGood day, Alpha Dane,โ€ he said, strolling in and taking a seat in Auroraโ€™s chair like he owned the place.

โ€œHm,โ€ I grumbled, running a hand through my hair as I reached for the door.

โ€œExpecting someone else?โ€ Trajan asked slyly. โ€œLet me guessโ€”the love of your life?โ€

I groaned, opening the door and pausing to glance back at him. โ€œIโ€™d rather call her the one after my life.โ€

Trajan frowned in confusion. โ€œHuh?โ€

โ€œNothing,โ€ I muttered, stepping out into the hallway. I made my way to the pack doctorโ€™s office, curious to see how things would go when Evander faced Piper.

As I neared the gates, I spotted Aurora and Evander ahead. Quickening my pace, I caught up and leaned down to whisper in Auroraโ€™s ear, โ€œHey.โ€

She jumped, startled, and nudged me playfully. โ€œDane! Donโ€™t sneak up on me like that.โ€

โ€œYou deserved it,โ€ I teased. โ€œThatโ€™s payback for earlier.โ€

She rolled her eyes, muttering something under her breath.

โ€œItโ€™s good youโ€™re here, Dane,โ€ Evander said, his voice steady but tense. โ€œI need all the support I can get.โ€

I nodded. โ€œI thought you two wouldโ€™ve been there by now.โ€

Aurora shook her head. โ€œWe stopped to check on the kids.โ€

โ€œHow are they?โ€ I asked, genuinely curious.

โ€œThey just had lunch and were napping when I saw them,โ€ she said, her voice softening.

โ€œGood,โ€ I replied as we continued toward the doctorโ€™s office.

When we arrived, a young werewolf greeted us at the door.

โ€œMiles?โ€ Aurora asked, surprise evident in her tone. โ€œYou work here now?โ€

Miles nodded, keeping his head down. โ€œYes, Luna. Sir Warrick is in the fourth room.โ€

We stepped inside, Aurora leading the way. Before she could move further, Miles called out to her.

โ€œLuna?โ€

Aurora turned to him, while I raised a questioning eyebrow. โ€œYes?โ€ she answered.

โ€œIโ€ฆ I just wanted to apologize for my past mistakes and bad behavior. I shouldnโ€™t have gotten involved with the wrong crowd. Iโ€™ve learned my lesson, and I promise Iโ€™m a changed person now.โ€

I narrowed my eyes, stepping closer to the young man. โ€œWhat exactly did you do?โ€

Miles glanced at Aurora, silently pleading for her intervention.

She placed a calming hand on my arm. โ€œItโ€™s all in the past, Dane. Weโ€™re starting fresh.โ€

I sighed, giving Miles a warning look. He gulped and nodded, clearly understanding the unspoken threat.

Aurora tugged on my arm. โ€œLetโ€™s go.โ€

We walked down the hallway, the numbered signs on the doors guiding us to the fourth room.

When we entered, Warrick lay on the bed, his face battered and bruised. A bandage wrapped around his head, and smaller dressings dotted his swollen features. Piper sat beside him, her head resting on the bed as she held his hand, her eyes closed.

Evander moved ahead of us, and Warrickโ€™s eyes snapped open. Fear flashed across his face as he recoiled, trying to retreat from Evander.

โ€œNoโ€ฆ stop!โ€ Warrick stammered, his voice trembling. โ€œI promise I wonโ€™t hurt Piper!โ€

โ€œWarrick, no!โ€ Evander said, raising his hands in a placating gesture.

Piper stirred at the commotion. Her eyes widened as she saw Evander, and anger flared in her expression.

โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€ she demanded, storming toward him. โ€œHave you come to finish what you started?โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ Evander growled back, his voice thick with frustration.

Warrick flinched, shifting on the bed as if preparing to flee.
