Chapter 350

AURORA

โ€œWhy there?โ€ Dane asked, following me as I walked silently down the corridor, leaving the pack house. I couldnโ€™t tell him I was going to investigate Alinaโ€™s connection with that pack. I needed to see if the moon goddess would guide me to something concrete.

Dane rushed ahead, stopping me. โ€œAuroraโ€ฆ why there?โ€ he asked, taking my arms.

โ€œBecauseโ€ฆโ€ I began, kissing him, โ€œYou need to trust me.โ€

He licked his lips, wiping his cheeks. โ€œFineโ€ฆ should we use the car?โ€

โ€œPerfect.โ€

We went to the garage at the back of the house; Dane smiled. He approached the blue Porsche. โ€œI missed these babies.โ€

โ€œMe too,โ€ I replied, smiling.

Dane took the keys from the driver. He opened my door; I got in. He joined me, placing his hand on my exposed thigh.

โ€œItโ€™s gonna be a long drive,โ€ he said with a smirk.

โ€œIโ€™ll love that,โ€ I said, patting his thighs.

I looked out the window, closing my eyes. I murmured a silent prayer to the moon goddess: โ€œHelp me today.โ€ Piper and Warrick had entrusted me with so muchโ€ฆ help me unravel the truth about Alinaโ€™s deception.

I pressed my head against the window. From the corner of my eye, I saw Dane glancing at me periodically. I turned; he looked at me again. I smiled softly.

โ€œWhatโ€™s on your mind, babe?โ€

I sighed, pushing my hair back. โ€œHoney, itโ€™s been peaceful at the pack, right?โ€

Dane nodded. โ€œAll because of you, Aurora.โ€

I smirked. โ€œMe?โ€ I mused. But thereโ€™s a huge team behind the success: me, you, Piper, and the restโ€ฆ and most importantly, the moon goddess, who was kind enough to grant us victory in all our battles.

I fell silent, staring out the window again. What awaited me in Trigon? What had the moon goddess sent me there for?

I looked at the sky; it was getting late. I turned to Dane. โ€œWill we be able to come back home tonight?โ€

Dane shook his head. โ€œItโ€™s already lateโ€ฆ I think weโ€™ll get a nice hotel for the night.โ€

โ€œThen I better inform Evander and the kids.โ€

Dane nodded. I texted Evander; he would tell the kids. I played a song, connecting my earpods. I placed one in my ear, resting my head against the headrest, listening with my eyes closed.

โ€œAurora,โ€ I felt Daneโ€™s touch on my cheek. I blinked open my eyes to see him. He was outside the car, taking my hand and leading me out.

โ€œWow,โ€ I gasped, watching a beautiful three-story, five-star hotel. โ€œMr & Mrs?โ€ I read the name on the sparkling sign, raising an eyebrow at Dane.

Dane nodded, looking at the car, taking the keys before joining me.

โ€œYou like it?โ€ he asked, taking my arm and tucking it into his elbow.

I swallowed. โ€œI loved it, Dane,โ€ I smiled, turning to him, then to the starlit sky, then back to Dane, who winked.

โ€œTell me somethingโ€ฆ is this our honeymoon?โ€

Dane led me inside. โ€œYou deserve all the happiness the world holdsโ€ฆ honeymoon or not, what matters is that I made you happy.โ€

I looked away, blushing. โ€œYouโ€™re so good with wordsโ€ฆ Iโ€™m not ready to be flattered by you, sorry.โ€

Stepping inside felt like entering another world. I glanced back at the door, half-expecting to find weโ€™d crossed into another realm. The lights were mesmerizing, with stunning chandeliers. The glass floor gleamed like a mirror. Dane approached the counter, where a pale-skinned, stunning blonde greeted us politely.

I was too awestruck to hear their conversation, but Dane took a key and turned to me.

โ€œBabeโ€ฆ should we eat first before going to the room, or should we eat in the room?โ€

โ€œWe should eat in the room,โ€ I replied, stretching. I was tired from the journey; I needed to rest and think about finding that tattooed man in this town.

Dane nodded, taking my hand as we headed for the elevator. My eyes scanned the surroundings until something caught my attention. A cleaner, mopping the floor, held something that drew me closer. It looked like a tattooโ€”exactly what Iโ€™d envisioned.

I walked past him; my palms grew clammy as he looked directly at me. He stood tall and intimidating, just as Miles had described. My eyes fell to his handโ€”there it was, the tattoo.

In my distraction, I stumbled over a wet floor sign. I tried to regain my balance, but it was too lateโ€”I was slipping.

โ€œDane!!โ€ I screamed, throwing my hands up to break my fall.
