Chapter 1485

Chantelle had an impressive figure, and even though she wore oversized custom business attire, it could not hide her alluring silhouette, the kind that sparked all kinds of thoughts in a manโ€™s mind. However, her facial expression left much to be desiredโ€“she constantly wore that frigid, emotionally detached look.

Just as she entered Serenity Villa, Chantelle stepped back out and looked to the side. โ€œYouโ€™re Tora, the Wrightsโ€˜ security captain, arenโ€™t you?โ€

Her tone was professional but slightly curious.

Tora grinned broadly. โ€œNice to see you, Ms. Garcia!โ€

Chantelle nodded curtly. โ€œWhy arenโ€™t you going inside? Youโ€™re here to see Andrew too, right?โ€

Tora looked frustrated and dejected. โ€œHe wonโ€™t let me inโ€“told me to wait outside!โ€

Chantelle frowned. โ€œThatโ€™s a bit much, even for him. But itโ€™s better if you wait out here. Heโ€™s no small fry anymore. Someone of his level is worth the wait.โ€

On the third floor, Chantelle did not bother knockingโ€“she just pushed the study door open and walked in.

Andrew was leaning over his desk, working on something, and did not even look up. โ€œMs. Garcia, your manners are getting worse.โ€

Chantelleโ€™s face was unreadable. โ€œYou, Mr. Lloyd, talking about manners? Thatโ€™s rich coming from someone who has none.โ€

Andrew replied evenly, โ€œI donโ€™t bother with manners because Iโ€™ve earned that privilege. You, on the other hand, are a bit short on that.โ€

Chantelle gritted her teeth but agreed with him. โ€œTrue enough. You change every single day now, even becoming the head of the Gabo Creek Chamber of Commerce. Iโ€™m just a government representative, so Iโ€™m definitely inferior.โ€

Andrew finally looked up and laughed. โ€œHey now, I was just teasing. No need to get all serious. Come on, have a seat. Iโ€™ll have someone bring tea. You government folks outrank us small business types any day.โ€

Chantelle scoffed, not believing a word of it. Sure, other wealthy businessmen might suck up to her. However, Andrew was obviously just paying lip service with his politeness. Sometimes, she even suspected his respect for Derek was all surface-level.

The man was infuriating, no doubt, but the way he carried himself so composed and mysterious made her wonder what kind of background he had before all this. To this day, even Derek has not been able to dig up Andrewโ€™s past. And that, in itself, was a serious problem.

โ€œMr. Lloyd, I came to talk businessโ€“specifically, about launching a new phase of cooperation between Blumedale and you. You now control Gabo Creekโ€™s largest Chamber of Commerce, and the resources at your fingertips could genuinely shift the provinceโ€™s entire economy.โ€

She paused for a second, her tone becoming more cautious. โ€œGovernor McCormick hopes youโ€™ll play a bigger role in the provinceโ€™s development. Andโ€ฆ if youโ€™re open to it, the governor wants to invite you into politics.โ€

Politics?

That caught Andrew off guard. This was not just a polite gesture anymoreโ€“it was a serious offer.

Chantelle sighed. โ€œAndrew, your rise has been ridiculous. Blumedale has never been short on gifted elites. People with connections, power, moneyโ€“you name it, weโ€™ve got it. But someone whoโ€™s risen like a rocket the way you haveโ€“thereโ€™s only ever been one person Iโ€™ve seen do it like that, and thatโ€™s you. Honestly, Iโ€™m not jealous, but Iโ€™d be lying if I said it didnโ€™t shake me.โ€

โ€œIn your brilliance, people like me seem to be working in vain, no matter how hard we tryโ€“it feels like Iโ€™ll never catch up. Youโ€™ve made me start doubting my entire life path.โ€

Andrew chuckled. โ€œMs. Garcia, itโ€™s really not as dramatic as youโ€™re making it sound. Iโ€™ve just been lucky. A few coincidences, thatโ€™s all. As for politicsโ€ฆ Itโ€™s not really my thing. Actually, I used to be part of the system. Getting out of it was hard enoughโ€“Iโ€™m not looking to dive back in.โ€

Chantelleโ€™s eyes sharpened. โ€œYou used to be part of the system? What kind of position? Where were you stationed? Who was your superior?โ€
