Chapter 1486

Andrew shook his head. โ€œDonโ€™t waste your time trying to dig into my background. Even if I told you, you wouldnโ€™t understand.โ€

Chantelle let out a cold laugh. โ€œCome on, Mr. Lloyd, thatโ€™s a bit much. You think I canโ€™t find out? Unless youโ€™re from one of Holtrienโ€™s top-tier noble families or one of the nationโ€™s real powerhousesโ€”the kind who sit at the top of the decision-making pyramidโ€”I can and will dig up your history.โ€

Andrew replied coolly, โ€œAlright then, hereโ€™s a little hint. I used to serve in Holtrienโ€™s military. If you want to investigate, be my guest.โ€

Chantelle froze, and her eyes widened in shock. โ€œMilitary? You were in the armed forces?โ€

Andrew corrected her without hesitation. โ€œNot a soldierโ€”I commanded them.โ€

That shut her up immediately. Her stunned gaze locked onto him. She paused for a second, then asked more urgently, โ€œWait, seriously? You led troops? Then that must meanโ€ฆ your rank wasnโ€™t low, was it?โ€

After all, there was a massive difference between serving in the military and actually leading. Andrew grinned. โ€œIโ€™ve already given you more than enough clues. The rest? Classified.โ€

Chantelleโ€™s brows furrowed deeply. She stared at Andrew in disbelief. โ€œSo when you said government, you meant that partโ€ฆ the military wing, and a high-level one at that. You were in theโ€ฆ Mr. Lloyd, Governor McCormick has long suspected your past wasnโ€™t ordinary. I used to think he was overthinking it, but now, looking at youโ€”someone with both edge and disciplineโ€”it turns out our roots are in one of the most elite departments out there.โ€

Andrew shrugged. โ€œEnough about me. Letโ€™s talk business. Tell meโ€”interested in exploring a treasure that dates all the way back to the Fallen Crimson Dynasty?โ€

Chantelle immediately shook her head. โ€œNot really. Sounds more like a fantasy than anything else. Come on, itโ€™s the modern age. Who still believes in ancient treasures?โ€

Andrew chuckled. โ€œThatโ€™s exactly what I thought at first.โ€

โ€œBut take a look at this, and then tell me again if you still think itโ€™s all just a myth.โ€

Chantelle stepped closer. โ€œWhat is it?โ€

On the desk in front of Andrew lay a weathered piece of parchmentโ€”a fragment from the Rhodes family. He picked up a small vial beside it and let a few drops of fresh blood fall onto the surface.

Immediately, faint lines began to emerge from the blank parchment.

Chantelle blinked, intrigued. โ€œIs this written in invisible ink? Thatโ€™sโ€ฆ kind of impressive.โ€

Andrew smiled. โ€œThis sheet is at least 100 years old. And back then, invisible ink wasnโ€™t exactly a thing.โ€

Chantelleโ€™s eyes widened. โ€œA hundred-year-old parchment. Waitโ€ฆ is this the map you were talking about?โ€ Andrew did not answer. Instead, he poured out the entire vial of the virginโ€™s blood across the parchment. The page soaked it up instantly, and as it did, dense markings and symbols began to appear across the once-empty surface.

Chantelle was mesmerized. โ€œThese markingsโ€ฆ the terrain, the place namesโ€”theyโ€™re all in ancient script. And whatโ€™s even more interesting is that the locations drawn match records from the Fallen Crimson Dynasty, maybe even earlier.โ€

Andrew nodded. โ€œThatโ€™s why I saidโ€”itโ€™s no bluff. This is only one piece of the treasure map.โ€

Chantelle asked instinctively, โ€œWhere are the rest of the fragments?โ€

Andrew answered, โ€œRafael and Mosby have them, and theyโ€™re already planning to unlock the treasure left behind by the Fallen Crimson Dynasty.โ€

Chantelleโ€™s expression shifted as she slowly nodded. โ€œAlrightโ€ฆ Iโ€™m starting to believe you.โ€
