Chapter 263
“I’m foolish?” Serena barked. “What about you? Your father kept the Weller family stable even while ill. You’re young, yet your arrogance knows no bounds. You’re worthless compared to Kane.”
In a fit of rage, Harvey slapped her hard, sending her stumbling backward. Clutching her reddened cheek, Serena stared in disbelief. “You actually hit me? You’ve only been in this position a few days, and you’re already violent?”
Harvey’s face twisted with malice. “So you acknowledge my position as family head? Who gave you the nerve to speak to me like that? This is your first and last warning. Another such outburst, and you’ll no longer sit beside me.”
“You ungrateful snake,” Serena spat, her chest heaving. “When I helped you, you called me ‘sweetheart’ every day and promised me the world. Now that you’ve gotten what you wanted—my body and the family position—you’re discarding me. Fine. Shame on me for ever believing in you!”
Crying, Serena stumbled from the great hall.
Harvey scoffed. “You’re just a cheap fling. Did you really think I cared? Once I’m done playing with you, you can get lost!”
The unattainable most attracted Harvey; Christina remained his obsession. He couldn’t eat or sleep until he possessed and conquered her. He mused, “If only the family elders weren’t in seclusion. With them, that bastard Andrew would be begging, no matter how strong he is!”
Unable to effectively counter Andrew, Harvey settled for harassing the Stevens family with Weller enforcers. The Weller family needed money; they might as well squeeze some from Stevens Corporation.
Meanwhile, Christina’s family urgently discussed countermeasures.
“That beast Harvey won’t leave us alone. Bruce and Jackie are no match for the Weller family. What are we going to do?” Irene paced anxiously.
“Mom, please stop pacing! You’ve been at it for two hours, and you’re making me dizzy,” Leroy complained, rubbing his temples.
Irene cursed. “You little brat, I’m worried about you and Christie’s safety! If you’re so annoyed, then come up with a solution!”
“If the Weller family pushes too far, I’ll fight Harvey to the end—I’m not afraid of him!” Leroy declared heatedly.
Christina glanced at him coldly. “Fight to the end with what? Haven’t you seen how powerful the Weller family elders are?”
Fear flickered across Leroy’s face. “Of course. That monster Harvey is lucky. Without those powerful elders, our family wouldn’t care about him.”
“Christie, we need to ask Andrew for help,” Irene suggested.
Christina frowned. “Mom, I’ve told you, I won’t ask Andrew. Besides, he’s no match for the Weller family. How can he fight Harvey with the entire family behind him?”
