Tracing the source of the leak about Keeley took Aiden less than an hour. He sorted through a lot of information, but organizing it chronologically made it easy. Investigating posts from the first few hours after the news broke was child's play.

Multiple posts originated from employees at a small research laboratory called PharmaGen. From there, identifying the source was straightforward. The only person Keeley knew who worked there was Ryan, a guy who sometimes visited her apartment.

With that resolved, Aiden resumed reviewing the footage of Lacy Knighton's abduction. Something about her movements seemed unusual. He'd known her for years and she'd never behaved like that before.

What if she was drugged? If she were incapacitated, it would have been easier for the murderer to move her without resistance. (But was she ever truly of sound mind, honestly?)

The problem was that Graydon Meyer (or Michael Gray, or whoever he was) had an alibi. Aaronโ€™s suspicions were always accurate. Aiden believed Meyer was the killer, but how had he done it?

According to the police report, Lacy was killed between 1 and 2 p.m. Security footage showed her being ejected from Appzoid around 12:50 p.m. Sophie found the body just after 3 p.m.; it had cooled somewhat, but rigor mortis hadn't set in, indicating it hadn't been there long.

Meyer's employees swore he hadn't left his office, but no one witnessed him there until his 3 p.m. appointment. He could have slipped out, killed her quickly, and returned. But how?

That wouldn't matter if there were concrete proof of him being outside his office or with Lacy after her eviction from Appzoid. Aiden's next task was to check every surveillance camera on the street to determine how she ended up in the Bronx.

This was extremely difficult. Dozens, if not hundreds, of people crowded the streets in each shot. It was like searching for a needle in a haystack and would likely take days.

He rubbed his eyes, glanced at the clockโ€”twenty minutes until he could go home. He was meeting Nova and some online gaming friends after dinner. He could manage that long.

Aiden found nothing in the next three days. He reviewed extensive footage, repeatedly zooming in and enhancing images.

Finally, he saw something: two seconds of a dark-haired man pulling an intoxicated woman with long black hair in an elegant updo into a cab. The camera angle was from behind. The height, build, and hair color matched Meyer and Lacy, but that wasn't definitive.

He only noticed it because the cab hadn't pulled completely to the curb, forcing them to step off the sidewalk. Otherwise, the crowd would have obscured them.

As the cab pulled away, the license plate was briefly visible. Aiden paused the footage, wrote down the number, and then checked for other camera angles showing their faces. He didn't want to waste time investigating the wrong cab.

Another camera captured the same two seconds, but from farther away, requiring more image enhancement. After some work, he confirmed the woman was Lacy Knighton, though the man's features were mostly hidden by large sunglassesโ€”not suspicious at all.

"Bingo," Aiden muttered.

It had to be Meyerโ€”they entered a cab in front of the building next to Appzoid. Now he just needed to see if Meyer was foolish enough to pay with a credit card.

He used the license plate to identify the cab company and driver. It belonged to Harry Ramone of Taxi Star. Further investigation revealed the passenger paid cash and didn't provide a name.

Disappointing. Aiden was about to give up when he had an idea.

His Taxi Star research revealed property damage issues from passengers. Dashcams were becoming increasingly common in taxis and ride-sharing services.

Given Taxi Star's problems, might Harry Ramone's cab have one? Aiden quickly found what he was looking for. A wide grin spread across his face. He locked his computer and rushed to tell his boss the good news.

'You're busted, Meyer!' he thought, sprinting to the elevator.
