Chapter 371 Chandler Was Furious
Dalton had hurriedly changed his clothes after falling into the water, but his hair was still damp. The cold winter wind only made his dizziness worse.
Because of his fever, Dalton began convulsing as Meryl opened the door.
He lay on the ground, twitching, his body curled up into a pitiful ball. There was no trace of his usual composure, only disarray and helplessness.
Meryl immediately crouched down, trying to massage him while shouting anxiously, โChandler, come help me!โ
Chandler remained standing where he was, his voice cold with resentment. โLet him die for all I care. What happens to him has nothing to do with me.โ
Meryl knew he was speaking out of anger. She knew Chandler would never truly leave someone to die.
โDonโt be childish. Heโs in real danger. Besides, if something happens to him outside our room, how do you think your sister will react? Sheโll surely blame you.โ
Meryl slapped Daltonโs cheek, trying to wake him, but there was no response. His sporadic convulsions were getting worse, and the situation looked grim.
Chandler, however, seemed genuinely intent on not getting involved.
Meryl pleaded, โThen at least call for an ambulance?โ
Chandler remained indifferent.
โChandler!โ
After a frantic effort, Dalton was finally taken to the hospital. The commotion had become so intense that it even alarmed the Aniston family.
Cameron yawned, looking confused. โChandler, what happened? Why did Dalton collapse right outside your door in the middle of the night?โ
Chandler narrowed his eyes. โIโm wondering the same thing, Cameron. Why donโt you ask him why he wasnโt sleeping and decided to show up at my room so late?โ
Cameron, feeling stung by the retort, pursed his lips and stayed quiet.
Charlotte, of course, knew the reason. What she couldnโt understand was why Dalton would go so far as to climb out of his window to see Meryl, even though she had locked his door before leaving.
She thought Meryl was nothing but trouble.
worried about Dalton. I want to go to the hospital to take care of him.โ
She had recently framed Dalton and knew he was probably furious with her. She thought that when someone was sick, they were emotionally vulnerable, and this could be her chance to mend their relationship.
โYou?โ Charlotte raised an eyebrow. โYou should stay home and take care of yourself. Donโt make things worse!โ
Lydia tried to argue, but Charlotte had already left with the ambulance.
As the crowd dispersed, Chandlerโs expression darkened considerably. He cast a long, intense look at Meryl, his anger evident.
โHoneyโฆโ Meryl called to him softly, reaching out to tug at his sleeve.
But Chandler pulled his arm away before she could touch him.
It was then that Meryl realized he was truly angry.
โChandlerโฆโ
She didnโt understand why the usually understanding Chandler was acting so differently tonight.
Meryl didnโt feel like she had done anything wrong. After all, in a situation like that, how could she just stand by and do nothing?
She thought to herself, โIs Chandler really this jealous?โ
After Chandler left, the garden became eerily quiet, with only Meryl and Lydia remaining.
Lydia smirked mockingly. โLooks like youโre losing Chandlerโs affection. When that happens, who will stand by your side?โ
Meryl shot back, โAnd what about you, Lydia? You drugged your own husband. Thatโs quite a feat. Dalton might not have the energy to deal with you tonight, but you should be worried about how heโll handle you once he recovers!โ
When Meryl returned to their room, Chandler was already gone.
This time, it seemed he was genuinely upset. He had left Meryl alone in the middle of the night without looking back.
