Chapter 372 A Business Trip
Since Meryl had arrived in Chandlerโs car earlier that day, and finding a taxi in the villa area was difficult at night, she was now stuck with no way to leave.
She lay on the spacious bed, the sheets still holding the warmth and traces of the tender moments she had shared with Chandler.
Chandlerโs face floated through her mind.
After spending so much time with him, Meryl realized that she had truly fallen for Chandler.
She also knew that whatever had existed between her and Dalton was long gone, which was why she hadnโt hesitated to go out and help him earlier.
However, it was clear that Chandler didnโt see it that way.
Meryl felt a headache coming on. She had no idea how to make Chandler trust her again.
After the New Year, she would have to return to work at the company.
Arriving early at the office, Meryl hoped to see Chandler.
When he hadnโt shown up yet, she sat in his office, waiting for him.
The night before, she had tossed and turned, wondering how to confess her feelings to Chandler.
She loved his presence, the warmth of his embrace. Every moment with him made her feel safe and grounded.
Spending time together had made it clear to Meryl that Chandler had taken up an important place in her heart.
She still remembered how, when she was kidnapped, Chandler had rushed to her rescue without a second thought. That moment had deepened her feelings for him even more.
If what she had once felt for Dalton was the stubborn obsession of youth, her feelings for Chandler now were something far more profound. They were admiration, affection, and a deep sense of reliance.
But after waiting in Chandlerโs office for a full hour, well past the start of the workday, he still hadnโt appeared.
Chandler, who was always punctual, was nowhere to be seen today.
Freya came in to retrieve some documents and seemed surprised to see Meryl.
โYouโve been here for a while? I thought youโd be late. Are you waiting for Mr. Aniston? Heโs on a business trip, didnโt you know?โ
Meryl hadnโt known at all.
โAs his wife, didnโt you know about it?โ
Meryl wondered, โDid Chandler really go on a business trip, or was he just trying to avoid me because heโs still upset?โ
Unable to shake her uncertainty, she went to the break room and called Chandler.
But no one picked up.
Feeling a bit down, she scrolled through the group chat from the previous night and saw that Chandler had gone to Griffore.
Meryl figured Chandler might be on a plane and decided not to overthink it.
A little while later, she got a call from Bianca.
โMeryl, why donโt you bring Chandler over for dinner tonight?โ
Sensing Merylโs hesitation, Bianca quickly added, โYour dad wonโt be there. Malcolm kicked him out.โ
In other words, without Malcolm around, there wouldnโt be any pressure on Chandler to talk about the company or push for favors for Celestial Ventures Group.
Meryl softly replied, โChandlerโs on a business trip.โ
โThen come by yourself,โ Bianca said quickly. โIโll have your brother pick you up after work.โ
Meryl didnโt refuse.
At the end of the workday, John showed up in front of the company in a limited-edition Lamborghini, making quite the scene.
He wore a black hoodie, the hood pulled low over his head, and leaned casually against the car, looking completely at ease.
This area was filled with corporate professionals, and the sudden appearance of a young man full of energy who was driving a rare, expensive car naturally drew a lot of attention.
John, with a lollipop hanging from his lips, ignored the stares, his eyes fixed on the entrance of Galaxy Holdings Group.
