Chapter 373 Malcolm Cornered
As soon as Meryl stepped out of the company, John rushed toward her.
Cate, standing nearby, stared in a daze at the handsome young man under the setting sun. It wasnโt until the two got into the Lamborghini and drove away that she snapped out of it. She thought to herself, โWas that Merylโs brother?โ Her cheeks flushed as she recalled Johnโs cool posture, leaning casually against the car, a lollipop hanging carelessly from his lips. It took her a long moment to come back to her senses, and she smacked her cheeks in frustration. โOh no! I was so distracted I completely forgot about what I was supposed to do!โ
Dalton had been unconscious since he was admitted to the hospital late last night. Heโd been out for an entire day, only waking up that afternoon. He refused to eat or drink, like a man whoโd lost his soul. No matter what anyone said to him, he didnโt respond.
But because sheโd been daydreaming, she had now lost track of where Meryl went. After getting out of the car, Meryl immediately spotted Malcolm outside, arguing with Bianca.
โHow dare you come back! Did you sign the divorce papers yet?โ Biancaโs eyes were red as she yelled at Malcolm, โI swear, every time I see you, I just want to beat you to death! Get out of here!โ She snatched a broom from one of the maids and started swinging it at Malcolm.
โBianca, calm down! Iโve been staying at a hotel for days now. Weโve been married for so many years. Can you really just throw all that away?โ
โAnd what did you do to me? You swapped out my child! Whatโs left for me to hold on to?โ Bianca glared at Malcolm, her eyes full of hate.
โI didnโt do it! It was Sandra! She switched them behind my back. I only found out later,โ Malcolm hurriedly explained.
โAnd what difference does that make? The two of you conspired to deceive me! You cheated on me, used my money to support your mistress, and now you want me to forgive you? Dream on!โ
โIโve already cut ties with her. Iโve been staying in that hotel for three days and havenโt seen her at all! Please, give me one more chance, Bianca. I really donโt want a divorce!โ
Malcolm couldnโt believe their decades-long marriage was about to end over this. Today was the first workday after the holidays, and when Malcolm arrived at the office, he noticed the strange looks everyone gave him. People whispered behind his back, clearly discussing something. As the chairman of Celestial Ventures Group, his authority had completely crumbled. The scandal about his affair with Sandra and the swapped daughters had become a public spectacle. Several former business partners had already sent termination notices, making it clear they no longer wanted to work with the company. Public sentiment was just as bad. Their competitors fanned the flames online, and many netizens vowed never to buy Celestial Ventures Group products again. Earlier in the year, Chandler had already dealt a heavy blow to him, and now, with this new scandalโฆ That morning, the companyโs stock had plummeted, leaving Malcolm in utter despair. He hadnโt expected the netizens to dig up every little detail about him. He knew if he didnโt act fast to fix things, the fortune his father had left him would be completely wiped out.
Malcolm couldnโt afford to divorce Bianca. Sandra had been nothing more than a fling, and even Lydiaโฆ He certainly didnโt want to leave Bianca for her.
Bianca came from a wealthy family, while Sandra was a mere mistress with nothing to offer him. Malcolm knew who he had to choose. He looked at Bianca desperately. โWhat do I have to do for you to give me another chance?โ
Bianca glanced over Malcolmโs shoulder and saw Meryl approaching from a distance. โYou want another chance? Fine. All you have to do is publicly disown Lydia as your daughter and kick her out of the family. Then I might consider it.โ
