Chapter 431 Daltonโs Confession
Cameron gasped dramatically, โOh my! Dalton, are you really colluding with this criminal?โ
Recalling Merylโs earlier claims that Dalton was in cahoots with the attacker to harm Chandler, Cameronโs eyes widened in disbelief.
โAre you out of your mind, Dalton? Youโre Dylanโs eldest grandson! You should be setting an example for the younger generation, not stooping to this!โ
Cameronโs disappointment was palpable. While her tone lacked sincerity, she put on a convincing performance.
Her relationship with Charlotte had always been strained, partly because Charlotte and her family looked down on Cameronโs husband for being a bastard.
The animosity between them dated back over twenty years.
When Cameron was about to marry into the Aniston family, Charlotteโs family was busy mourning the death of a relative.
Due to the significance of the funeral, most guests attended that instead of her wedding, leaving Cameron with hardly anyone at her ceremony.
At that time, Mortonโs mother had passed away. Cameron and Dylanโs marriage was a business arrangement, and they cared little about the Aniston family but were solely about Morton and his family.
Cameron had set her wedding date long in advance, yet on the big day, very few guests showed up.
For many, marriage was a onceโinโaโlifetime event, and this made Cameron uncomfortable. After that, she harbored resentment towards Charlotte.
Now, Cameron couldnโt help but revel in Charlotteโs embarrassment.
Her words seemed to lament Daltonโs failure to set a good example, but in reality, they confirmed his ties to the criminal.
Charlotte shot Cameron a fierce glare, knowing that this wasnโt the moment to engage with her.
Chandler tossed the photo at Dalton. โHereโs the evidence. What do you have to say for yourself, Dalton?โ
Chandler had been wanting to confront Dalton for a while.
After Dalton had kidnapped Meryl for over half a month, Chandler had no intention of letting him off easy.
However, if he was going to deal with Dalton, he needed a legitimate reason.
Chandler figured that reason couldnโt be based on Daltonโs kidnapping of Meryl. After all, that would be a disgraceful affair that could tarnish Merylโs reputation.
So, he decided to take all the blame upon himself.
Dalton and Chandler locked eyes.
Dalton could see the flicker of darkness in Chandlerโs gaze.
In fact, he had been used by Zane and hadnโt intended to actually put Chandler in danger.
Though he loathed Chandler for taking the woman he loved, his hatred wasnโt enough to want to kill him.
Yet, at this moment, facing Chandlerโs accusations, Dalton found himself at a loss for words. After all, he had little to defend himself with.
As a man, Dalton had his own pride. He had no desire to plead with Chandler.
After all, they were rivals in love.
After a long pause, Dalton muttered, โI have nothing to say. Do as you wish.โ
Implied in his words was his acceptance of the situation.
โDalton, what nonsense are you spouting?โ
Charlotte interjected immediately, โThose are just a few pictures. They donโt prove anything. You were used by Zane, werenโt you?โ
Being Daltonโs mother, Charlotte understood him well. She couldn't believe that Dalton would harbor any ill intent towards Chandler.
โYou were manipulated by Zane. You feel guilty, so youโre trying to shield Meryl from harm! This has nothing to do with you! How could you conspire with Zane to harm Chandler?โ
Chandler chuckled coldly. โSo now itโs about him protecting Meryl and getting hurt, instead of Meryl causing your sonโs injury?โ
