Chapter 558 Being Rescued
โWhere is Andy? Where is he? Hand him over!โ
โHeโs dead. His body was taken away and fed to the dogs. We wonโt keep him here.โ
The drug lordโs voice was full of disdain, as if he was not talking about a human being.
โNo. Thatโs impossibleโฆโ Chandler shouted, covering his head with his hands. He couldnโt have killed Andy. It was impossible.
But as soon as he closed his eyes, several fragments flashed through his mind. He vaguely recalled Andy saying, โTake good care of my sister.โ
Why did that memory seem to be missing? What happened?
He couldnโt remember how Andy died.
Feeling so desperate, Chandler lapsed into endless self-reproach. Perhaps the psychological suggestion was so strong that he closed his eyes and really saw the scene of him stabbing the dagger into Andyโs body.
Did he really kill Andy?
Chandler couldnโt help but doubt himself.
Despair and guilt overwhelmed him.
He couldnโt accept that he had taken Andyโs life, but if he hadnโt killed Andy, why did Andy disappear?
The drug lords broke their promise. After Andyโs death, they did not release Chandler but continued to imprison him in that dark room.
They were capricious villains who disregarded human life. How could they be reliable?
After a long while, when Chandler felt that he was about to collapse from hunger, there was a panicked noise outside.
It turned out that the police had found this place. The drug lords outside hurried to flee and didnโt think of him until the police surrounded them at the last moment.
He became a hostage. Someone held a gun to the back of his head and dragged him to the top floor. He was on the verge of death.
โLet me go, or Iโll shoot him.โ
The vicious drug lord negotiated with the police, considering Chandlerโs life as his only chance of survival.
But a police sniper lying in ambush in the dark shot the drug lord in the temple shortly after the negotiations began.
A gunshot rang out, and the drug lord fell to the floor.
It was a headshot.
At that moment, Chandler felt a scene of blood and exploding brains behind him.
There was blood snaking onto the floor, and the drug lord controlling him was dead.
Chandler was so frightened that he turned pale and knelt on the floor. For a long time after that, he could not bear the sight of any liquid.
Even if it were water, he would vomit reflexively.
After being rescued, Chandler was not sent back immediately but was sent to the police station to take a statement.
After all, he had been with those drug lords for so long, and there were some details the police needed to ask him.
It was at that time that Chandler learned that the police had only arrested a small number of them.
Behind the gang was a vast chain of crime, and those who had kidnapped him and Andy were but one branch of that chain.
The leader of the branch ran away, and only his subordinates were caught.
The policeman Chandler met was a nice one, a man in his thirties, who first took him home, allowed him to take a shower and change clothes, and gave him instant noodles.
Because he was in a poor state of mind after his rescue, the police even asked a therapist to provide him with counseling.
It took three days before Chandler spoke.
He truthfully explained everything that had happened during this period, including the test that only one of him and Andy could survive.
โThe rescue dog smelled Andyโs scent when looking for you.โ
The policeman who took him home to take a shower sensed Chandlerโs self-blame and comforted him softly.
โAndyโs blood was also found on another knife they carried with them. This means that the dagger left in the room at the time was most likely not the weapon that ultimately killed him.
โThe real murder weapon was their knife.
โIn other words, they lied to you. It wasnโt you who killed Andy.โ
