Secret Admiration: Finding True Love Afterโ€ฆ

Chapter 665 Please

As Rachel and Christopher were talking, she heard the unmistakable sound of Chandlerโ€™s car pulling into the driveway. Her heart raced.

Rachel casually brushed off a few words with Christopher before hastily hanging up the phone.

Excitedly, she opened her door, ready to dash downstairs, but then she remembered her ruse of pretending to be blind had been busted. Rachel abruptly halted her steps.

She thought, โ€œWhat if Chandler finds out Iโ€™m faking my blindness?

Will he send me away to another country?โ€

Just then, Meryl stepped out of her room and spotted Rachel.

โ€œHey, Rachel! Whatโ€™s up? Did you hear the car? Are you going to greet my husband?โ€

Before she could finish her sentence, Chandler appeared, striding towards them.

The moment he entered the hallway, his eyes were solely focused on Meryl.

He walked straight up to her, pulling her into a warm embrace.

โ€œWhy are you barefoot again?โ€ he asked, concern etched on his face as he lifted her off the ground, letting her stand on his feet.

Meryl had been napping but rushed out when she heard the car, forgetting to put on her slippers in her haste.

โ€œChandlerโ€ฆโ€ Rachel tried to grab his attention, but it was like talking to a wall.

He hadnโ€™t looked at her since he arrived, and it stung.

Finally, his gaze flicked to Rachelโ€™s face, and she could see the knowledge of what had happened earlier in the day reflected in his eyes.

He had come home during his break to check on her.

Instead of scolding her for pretending to be blind, Chandler spoke calmly, โ€œRachel, Iโ€™ll buy you a plane ticket. Anywhere else youโ€™d like. I can arrange it all.โ€

The implication was clear. He wanted to send her away.

To Rachel, this was actually a tempting offer.

After all, her career was in shambles following the plagiarism scandal against Meryl.

But maybe, just maybe, if she left the country, she could start fresh.

With a wounded look, she pleaded, โ€œChandler, canโ€™t I stay? I donโ€™t want to go anywhere! I donโ€™t like any other country! I only like it here!โ€

โ€œRachel, donโ€™t be stubborn. Iโ€™m giving you three days to think it over. You can choose which country you want to go toโ€”right now, you still have options.โ€

Chandler, being Andyโ€™s friend, couldnโ€™t just ignore his sister. โ€œIf you canโ€™t make a decision, Iโ€™ll make one for youโ€“marry Felix.โ€

Rachel was taken aback.

She almost shouted in frustration, โ€œWhat?! I donโ€™t want to marry Felix!

Felix is in love with your wife! You know that! If I marry him, my life will be a nightmare! Heโ€™d make my life miserable!โ€

With that, Rachel turned on her heel and stormed back into her room, slamming the door behind her.

No one dared to raise their voice at Chandler like that.

He frowned, puzzled. โ€œThe Morgan family is long gone, so why is she still acting like such a spoiled princess? Who raised her to be like this?โ€

Meryl watched the scene unfold, realizing that Chandler truly saw Rachel as a sister.

His every word and action towards her felt more like a protective brother than anything else.

Meryl finally felt reassured.

Just then, Chandler seemed to have an epiphany. He suddenly focused intently on Meryl.

โ€œWhatโ€™s up?โ€ Meryl asked, feeling a bit uneasy under his gaze. She instinctively touched her cheek, wondering if something was wrong with her appearance.

โ€œEven she knows Felix only has eyes for you,โ€ he said, gripping Merylโ€™s chin and leaning closer, their foreheads almost touching.

The heat radiating from him was palpable, and Meryl felt her heart racing uncontrollably.

At that moment, Chandler exuded a magnetic tension, yet his expression clearly showed his irritation.

Meryl hadnโ€™t expected that Felix would ever stir up Chandlerโ€™s jealousy.

Chandler pressed Meryl against the door, his body flush against hers. โ€œMeryl, you can only be mineโ€ฆโ€

One hand curled around her fingertips while the other boldly tilted her chin upward.

His narrow eyes were half-closed, and with each kiss, Adamโ€™s apple bobbed enticingly.

The atmosphere thickened with an undeniable tension, but just as things were heating up, Merylโ€™s phone rang, breaking the moment.

It was an unfamiliar number.

She chose not to answer, but the caller was persistent, ringing back almost immediately.

The interruption was unwelcome, to say the least.

Chandler, sensing the disruption, reached into Merylโ€™s robe pocket and swiped to answer the call.

โ€œMs. Stone, where are you? Mr. Powell is injuredโ€ฆ he needs your help! Iโ€™m on my way to pick you up.โ€ Philipโ€™s urgent voice came.

Merylโ€™s heart sank. She recognized the voice instantly.

Chandlerโ€™s expression darkened. โ€œWho are you?โ€

Philip, taken aback to hear a manโ€™s voice on the line, quickly deduced it was Chandler.

โ€œIโ€™m Philip, Mr. Powellโ€™s assistant,โ€ he replied straightforwardly.

Chandlerโ€™s demeanor shifted, his jealousy flaring.

He was already feeling jealous of Felix, and then, out of the blue, Felixโ€™s people called to speak with Meryl.

This was just adding fuel to the fire.

Meryl couldnโ€™t fathom how Philip had gotten her number.

Chandler was about to hang up when Philip hastily added, โ€œMr. Aniston, Mr. Powell is seriously hurt. Iโ€™m not trying to cause any trouble. I just need Ms. Stone to treat him!โ€

Chandlerโ€™s voice was icy. โ€œWhat kind of injury requires her specifically? Why not take him to the hospital?โ€

โ€œBecause it has to be Ms. Stone,โ€ Philip insisted, desperation creeping into his tone.

Felix had recently kidnapped Lydia, and Charlotte was furious. Sheโ€™d called Felixโ€™s stepmother, Miranda Powell, who had never had much affection for her stepson.

To discipline him, she made him endure a punishment in the ancestral hall.

It shouldnโ€™t have been a big deal, but Felix had just recovered from a severe car accident that left him with shattered bones.

Although he had metal rods in his legs, he was still in recovery and couldnโ€™t walkโ€”he needed a wheelchair.

Miranda didnโ€™t care about his condition.

Instead of letting him get punished on a cushion, she forced him to suffer on a washboard for a whole day and night.

By the time he was released, his legs were bruised and battered, looking quite horrific.

Philip knew that Merylโ€™s medical acupuncture skills were top-notch, and in this situation, that was the best option.

โ€œMs. Stone, please!

Help Mr. Powell! If you donโ€™t, he might never walk again!

His life has been so hardโ€“he never got any love from his parents.

After the Powell familyโ€™s trouble, all the blame fell on him, a teenager who had to take the fallโ€ฆ

He spent ten years in prison, and when he lost all hope of ever getting out, you were the one who reignited that spark,โ€ Philip pleaded, his sincerity palpable.

His words struck a chord.

If it werenโ€™t for Meryl, Felix wouldnโ€™t have made any effort to get his sentence reduced and released from prison.
