“I’ve made all the arrangements at home. The heating is on, and all the servants are in place,” Chandler immediately said, “It’s windy outside. Put on more layers and wear a hat. I’ll have the driver come to pick you up.”
“No need. I won’t be returning to that home,” Meryl said softly. “I plan to stay at Anne’s place.”
Chandler was taken aback, exclaiming in surprise, “What did you say? You’re not coming home with me?”
Meryl nodded affirmatively.
“No! I won’t allow it!” Chandler’s voice rose in pitch, betraying his agitation. “You’re my wife. You can’t go to someone else’s house to recover after giving birth. We had an understanding that I’d take good care of you!”
“Although I’m your wife, I’m a free individual. I can go wherever I please, can’t I?” Meryl looked at him calmly and said, “Haven’t you been insisting that you care about me? If that’s the case, then abide by my wishes.”

“The divorce agreement will be sent to you once my lawyer has drawn it up. I’ll get in touch with you then,” Meryl said calmly, “If you find it acceptable, sign it and send it back to me. Then we’ll arrange a time to finalize the divorce procedures.”
