Chapter 75: I Can Only Advise You to Get Plastic Surgery
Downstairs, three or four young men in black uniforms sat on the living room sofa. Each was exceptionally handsome, with rosy cheeks and white teeth. Their black suits accentuated their tall, slender figures. At first glance, they resembled a boy band. In fact, they were a famous styling team from Chulae. Their leader, Tony Jackson, sported golden-yellow hair.
Upon seeing Cheyenne, he exclaimed, "Oh my god! Miss Lawrence, you are truly an angel sent from heaven! So cute and charming!"
Cheyenne found his exaggerated expression amusing. Affecting an air of aloofness, she descended the stairs, her gold high heels clicking rhythmically, accompanied by a cold laugh.
"Is this what you say to every customer?" she asked.
Tony paused, then smiled even more broadly, placing a hand on her shoulder as he helped her sit. "Of course not," he said. "It's because Miss Lawrence is truly beautiful."
"Okay, stop talking," Cheyenne interrupted. "Hairstylists and makeup artists always talk nonsense. If things go wrong, you'll face my wrath."
Cheyenne refused further conversation. Tony and his team looked embarrassed, while Iker chuckled.
"Tony's a professional," Iker said, implying he wouldn't ruin Cheyenne's appearance. He then added, "If even he can't save you, I suggest plastic surgery."
"Plastic surgery?" Cheyenne exclaimed, leaning angrily towards the mirror. Did she really need it?
Meanwhile, at the Todd mansion, Kai had summoned the household to welcome Kelvin. The gathering of his three wives ignited a silent battle in the hall. Kelvin, uninterested in the women, sat with Kai and his second son, discussing business contracts. Davon carefully avoided revealing his true intentions to Kelvin.
"Mr. Foley, I hear you're running for president of the next business association election. How admirable!" Davon said.
"Those are just rumors," Kelvin replied, raising his glass. "Master Davon, a toast to you!" They clinked glasses.
As their eyes met, Kelvin noticed Davon's calculating glint, a quality he disliked. The rumors about the Todd family's Master Davon were true; he was difficult.
Erica, in a light purple strapless gown, approached Kelvin on high heels. Smiling, she said, "This is my first time meeting you, Mr. Foley. Let me propose a toast."
"Madam Erica is too kind," Kelvin replied. They both sipped their drinks. Erica then looked meaningfully at Davon and asked coquettishly, "Master Davon, how could you not introduce Mr. Foley to me when you know him?"
Kelvin felt uncomfortable at her coquettish tone; his expression grew colder. Davon feigned apology, refilling Erica's wine glass. "You're too impatient. I planned to tell you after the project concludes."
"How's the project progressing?"
"I'm discussing it with Mr. Foley now. Both sides are sincere, and I believe Mr. Foley won't make things difficult."
Kelvin smiled, silently acknowledging the Todd family's internal struggles. Kai had divided power between his second son and his favored fourth wife. Erica, with the weakest position and children to support, was vulnerable without Kai's protection. Poppy, however, had her family and a powerful daughter's fiancé to support her.
"That's good," Erica said ambiguously, accidentally or intentionally bumping Kelvin's arm as she left.
The family banquet was about to begin, but the rumored "War God" of the Todd family hadn't arrived. Just as Kelvin thought he wouldn't appear, a chilling voice said, "I'm sorry I'm late."
Kai, delighted, stood. "Iker, take your seat."
Cheyenne, pushing Iker toward the hall, faltered upon seeing a familiar figure at the dining table. He why is he here? she thought.
Iker noticed her hesitation. Turning, he patted her hand on her wheelchair. "Getting nervous?" he whispered.
"No."
"Then maintain your composure. Tonight, you're my date," Iker said. "Behave, or you owe me five million dollars."
Cheyenne snapped back to reality, sighing in relief and forcing a polite smile. "Master Iker, I'm not nervous."
Cheyenne made a stunning entrance. The champagne-colored gown suited her perfectly, her wavy hair half-pinned up with a crystal flower crown, creating a regal look. She exuded power and elegance.
Davon and others noticed their earlier exchange, including Kelvin, who saw them briefly hold hands. Kelvin felt disgusted by her swift change of partners. He stared disdainfully at Cheyenne. Unaware, Cheyenne gently adjusted Iker's suit jacket.
"Thank you, Cheyenne," Iker said quietly. Silence fell. Kai looked between them, surprised, then laughed heartily.
"Miss Lawrence, let me offer you a toast," he said.
