Chapter 76: Childish Behavior

Cheyenne reached for a glass when a large hand appeared before her. A deep, pleasant voice murmured in her ear, "Father, let me drink this for her."

The hall erupted in surprise. Iker, known for his coldness, had just volunteered to drink for a woman.

Meanwhile, Kelvin, seated across from them, surreptitiously squeezed a sandbag bearing Cheyenne's name, nearly crushing it. His narrowed eyes hinted at sinister intent.

Cheyenne, astonished by Iker's intervention, protested, "Master Iker, given your health, perhaps it's best I drink this myself."

Before Iker could respond, Mr. Foley's cold voice cut through the air. The crowd turned to see his handsome face. "Master Iker may not know this woman well. She can handle thousands of cups without getting drunk. This is nothing to her."

Kai studied Cheyenne and Kelvin, sensing their relationship was more complicated than a simple divorce. "Mr. Foley is right, Master Iker. I'll drink it myself instead. It's better for your health."

Cheyenne exchanged a meaningful glance with Kelvin before taking the wine from Iker and draining it in one gulp. She then provocatively licked her lips, looking at Kelvin, and declared, "This is Katlenburger Cherry Wine. Its sweet cherry aroma and unique sour, sweet, and savory taste evoke the feeling of first love, especially when paired with milk-flavored caramel cake."

Even Erica, who disliked Cheyenne, admitted the description was accurate. Iker, his eyes shining, smiled. He hadn't expected such refined taste.

"Well done! Miss Lawrence is truly amazing! You should try another," Kai exclaimed, instructing his butler to fetch a bottle of red wine from his study. The butler promptly returned with the wine.

"This is Bass Phillip Cult Wine, from the king of Australian Pinot Noir. It offers pure fruit flavor with a sweet-salty hint, reminiscent of a beach vacation, particularly when paired with foie gras or caviar."

As the head of a family with French vineyard holdings, Kai was a wine connoisseur. Cheyenne's accurate descriptions and insights impressed him.

"Miss Lawrence, you're incredible! No wonder Mr. Foley says you can hold your liquor. To you!" Davon stood, offering Cheyenne a glass of whiskey.

"This whiskey is best served with ice to enhance its flavor. A lemon slice would be perfect in summer," Cheyenne added. A servant immediately provided ice.

"It's a shame. Miss Lawrence, you'd be perfect for my company."

Despite her tolerance, Cheyenne's face flushed with each drink, her delicate beauty taking on a peachy hue. Davon, captivated, reached for her hand.

Iker's cold stare stopped him. "Davon, she is my companion tonight."

"Iker, you're being too protective. I just wanted to see if Miss Lawrence was drunk," Davon replied.

Cheyenne abruptly stood, staring at Kelvin. He seemed doubled, his gaze terrifying.

"I I'm not drunk," she stammered. "Just a little flushed. I need some air."

She apologized and left.

Iker followed, but Kai stopped him. "Come, father and son haven't had a drink together in a while." He watched Cheyenne's retreating figure with worry.

"Davon, follow her," Kai instructed.

Kelvin remained silent, his gaze flickering. The rain-washed yard still held the scent of damp earth.

Cheyenne, the wind easing her drunkenness, sat on a stone bench, admiring roses. A smile touched her lips.

"Miss Lawrence."

Davon, elegantly dressed in white, approached, his shadow engulfing her. His gaze was intense.

"Master Davon?" Cheyenne asked calmly as he sat, a faint smile on his face. He leaned forward, picking a rose. "Flowers have always been associated with beautiful women. This exquisite rose is for you, Miss Lawrence."

Cheyenne hesitated, then accepted it. "Thank you, Master Davon. It's lovely, but I'm no beauty."

"In my heart, Miss Lawrence is exquisite."

She wasn't a typical woman. Taking the rose, she placed it on her temple and took a selfie.

"I think so too," she said, a dimple appearing. She was captivating.

"Miss Lawrence, you've cared for my brother. This flower is a small token of gratitude."

Her smile faded, her heart quickening. (The final sentence about the website has been removed as it's irrelevant and out of place.)
