Chapter 139

Elvira and Cole were stopped because they lacked an invitation. Elvira took out her phone, intending to call Charles personally.

“Excuse me, please don’t obstruct the other VIPs. You can’t enter without an invitation,” the security guard said dutifully. He eyed Elvira and Cole vigilantly, as if expecting them to suddenly rush in.

Cole was slightly angry, but Elvira remained calm. She felt there was no need to argue with a staff member.

Calvin and Judy happened to approach. Calvin was delighted to see Elvira stopped at the entrance.

Judy looked at her innocently. “Elvira, don’t you have an invitation? Why did you come without one?”

Guests arrived one after another. After hearing Judy’s words, everyone looked at Elvira.

At first glance, they were stunned by Elvira’s gorgeous face. The attendees were all from the design industry. Seeing Elvira, some even considered asking her about modeling.

Judy concealed her jealousy. Wearing white, she’d hoped to resemble a fairy and overshadow everyone. However, she was outshone by Elvira in her striking red dress.

“Charles called and invited me,” Elvira replied calmly. She had called Charles, but he hadn’t answered. She assumed he was busy and didn’t have his phone.

“That’s hilarious, Elvira. Mr. White sent invitations to everyone. You can’t enter without one! Do you know who Mr. White is? He’s a master in the design field. There’s no way you’d know him,” Judy said, raising her chin slightly, looking superior.

The other guests also felt Elvira was boasting. They had all been invited and didn’t know Charles. They thought, ‘We’re all from the design industry. This woman doesn’t even have an invitation, yet she claims to know Charles. She’s lying!’

Calvin frowned. He didn’t believe Elvira. He thought, ‘Elvira attended a low-level university. How could she know Charles White, a genius from the world’s top university?’

“Let’s go in,” Calvin said, disappointed with Elvira and unwilling to speak to her further.

Judy said, “Calvin, why don’t we let Elvira in? Since she’s here, she must have a reason. She’s my sister; I can’t just leave her out.”

Judy seemed unable to bear Elvira being ridiculed. In reality, she wanted Elvira to see her success. Today, she was Charles’s special guest, and she wanted Elvira to witness her admiration and praise.

“Then let’s go in together. Don’t waste time,” Calvin said calmly, his attitude toward Elvira having completely changed.

Judy was satisfied. Elvira, however, didn't care. She didn't refuse; entering was better than waiting. She only knew Charles would be there. If he didn't answer her calls all night, her plan would fail.

Elvira looked at the smug Judy and smiled, “Thank you.”

She thought, ‘I hope you two will laugh later and regret bringing me in. It’s a clever move to let Judy bring me in. She’ll realize what a stupid decision this is.’

“You’re welcome. We’re sisters,” Judy said. Judy’s eyelids twitched when she saw Elvira’s gaze. She regretted her impulsive decision to bring Elvira.

However, having already spoken, she couldn’t retract her words. She could only brace herself and bring Elvira and Cole inside.

Elvira walked in on her high heels. She and Judy entered one after another. Everyone’s gaze naturally fell upon Elvira. Judy was completely overshadowed.

Judy immediately regretted bringing Elvira. Enraged, her face turned livid. She thought, ‘Elvira did that on purpose. I should have entered first. She’s just an extra, yet she went in first!’

Many people were already in the banquet hall. After entering, Elvira took Cole to a quieter area to rest. She looked around but didn’t see Charles. She guessed he was busy and hadn't arrived yet.

Elvira’s phone rang. It was Charles.

“Hey, Shauna, have you arrived? I have something to attend to; I’ll be a little late,” Charles said, slightly embarrassed.

“I’ve already arrived. I’ll leave you to your work then,” Elvira said nonchalantly.

The designer of Kennedy Group had always been mysterious. Her designs were very popular, making everyone curious about Shauna. Now that they knew Shauna was Judy, people from the industry surrounded and praised her incessantly.

Judy had been holding Calvin’s hand. She maintained a humble posture and a gentle smile.

“Ms. Willis, I didn’t expect you to be the designer of Kennedy Group. You’re incredibly talented. Mr. Kennedy is lucky to have married you,” someone praised.

Another said, “That’s right. Ms. Willis is Willis Group’s successor. Now that she’s joined forces with Kennedy Group, she’ll definitely create more amazing works.”

Another person added, “Ms. Willis, your designs are amazing! I’d love to get some pointers from you.”

Elvira watched from afar as Judy and Calvin were praised. They seemed elated. She thought their joy would be short-lived.

Judy knew Elvira was watching. She was happy, thinking, ‘I made the right decision bringing Elvira. She must be envious.’ ‘So what if she married the CEO of Gilbert Group? Elvira has no talent and is incompetent. How could such a woman keep a man? It’s only a matter of time before she’s dumped.’ ‘However, Mom is right. We have to use this opportunity to find someone to replace Elvira and marry into the Gilbert family. That will benefit me and the Willis family.’

Judy felt like laughing. Her smile widened.

Charles finally arrived. He asked, “Where is Shauna? Take me to her immediately.”

When the guests heard Charles’s words, they looked at Judy enviously. Charles was a world-renowned design master; his approval would be a great honor.

Judy looked proud. She smiled and held Calvin’s arm as they walked toward Charles.

Elvira watched with interest. Her smile broadened. After all, watching someone she disliked make a fool of themselves was satisfying.
