Chapter 140

Judy took the initiative to greet Charles. “Hello, Mr. White. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” She extended her hand, but Charles frowned. Since she was a guest, he patiently shook her hand.

“Welcome. Please help yourselves,” Charles said perfunctorily.

The guests were quite shocked, wondering, “Isn’t Mr. White looking for Shaun? Why is he so aloof while Judy is standing before him?”

“Mr. White, thank you for inviting me to your banquet,” Judy said, initiating further conversation.

“You’re welcome. Where is Ms. Shaun?” Charles replied, eager to see Elvira.

Someone beside him reminded Charles, “Well… Mr. White, Ms. Willis is Shaun. You personally invited her.”

“Mr. White, nice to see you for the first time. I’m Shaun. My Avernan name is Judy Willis, and I’m now the designated designer of Kennedy Group.” Judy raised her hand, gently brushing her hair behind her ear. Her smile was elegant. Charles, shocked, asked, “What did you say? I didn’t hear you clearly. Could you repeat yourself?” His Avernan wasn't very good, and he wondered if he'd misheard. Why would this woman claim to be Shaun? he thought. Shaun’s surname is Willis, but this woman is definitely not her. Judy’s smile remained unchanged. She assumed his surprise was the reason for his confusion, so she confidently repeated her introduction in Wylish.

Charles instantly flew into a rage. “That’s nonsense! Who are you? How dare you pretend to be Shaun?”

Judy and Calvin’s expressions changed. The surrounding guests were also shocked, staring at Charles' sudden fury, momentarily bewildered. They wondered, “Mr. White actually says Judy Willis is an impostor? Is that true?”

Everyone looked at Calvin and Judy excitedly, anticipating the drama if Judy was indeed an impostor.

Calvin’s expression instantly darkened. Kennedy Group was already in crisis due to Zach’s suppression. Now, relying on borrowed money to produce new products, revealing Judy as a fraud would likely cripple his sales. After all, no one would buy an impostor’s products.

Calvin felt his limbs go pale. His breathing quickened; he felt suffocating and on the verge of madness. If the products failed, Kennedy Group faced bankruptcy. He would never allow the truth about Judy to be revealed.

“Mr. White, even if you are the best in the design field, you can’t call her an impostor randomly! You’ve never seen Shaun before. How can you spout such nonsense?” Calvin felt cornered. He’d never felt so threatened.

If the products failed, Kennedy Group would face bankruptcy. Calvin would never allow the truth about Judy to be leaked.

“That’s right, Mr. White. This is the first time we’ve met. What right do you have to call me an impostor? This is slander. Apologize immediately, or I’ll sue!” Judy’s expression was one of righteous indignation. Her firm gaze convinced many that Charles was slandering her.

Charles couldn’t believe this woman, pretending to be Shaun, had the nerve to be so self-righteous. He’d never seen such a thick-skinned person.

“Am I slandering you? Shaun and I learned from the same teacher. Who are you, impostor? You’re even clamoring to sue me. I’m going to sue you for impersonating my friend!” Charles’s attitude was even tougher and more self-righteous than Judy’s.

When Calvin and Judy heard this, their hearts skipped a beat. They hadn’t expected Shaun to have studied under Charles’s teacher. They could only try to weather this storm and could not admit Judy was an impostor.

Although Charles had high international status, Avernians weren’t familiar with him. Calvin and Judy could exploit this and continue to deny Judy was a fake.

“Mr. White, is there a misunderstanding? My fiancée is indeed Shaun, the designer for my company. Could it be that she shares a name with your friend?” Calvin quickly formulated this excuse.

The guests listened attentively. Calvin’s explanation seemed plausible.

“Charles, it’s been a while.” Elvira walked in with a smile, instantly captivating everyone's attention.

When Charles saw Elvira, his expression softened. A surprised smile appeared on his face. He happily approached her and hugged her. “Shauna, it’s been too long! I’ve missed you terribly! How could you not contact us? I nearly died of missing you.”

Elvira smiled. “We can keep in touch in the future.”

Calvin and Judy were speechless with shock. They couldn’t believe Elvira was Shaun.

Calvin was dumbfounded and felt terrible. He never expected Elvira to be the designer for his company. She had not only helped him survive several crises but had also anonymously provided design plans.

Calvin felt the world spinning. He couldn’t imagine what he’d missed. During past crises, Elvira had been advising him, but she’d taken no credit, deliberately giving the glory to Calvin to protect his ego.

Judy was dumbfounded. Seeing Charles’s enthusiastic reaction to Elvira, she felt overwhelming jealousy and resentment. I brought Elvira here to witness my triumph, not to let her and Charles reminisce and show off their closeness! she thought. Elvira is my nemesis! As long as she's around, I'll never be happy!

“Shauna, what’s going on? Why did she claim to be the designer, Shaun?” Charles asked, confused.

Elvira looked at Judy and Calvin with a faint smile. “Mr. Kennedy, shouldn’t you explain why Judy uses the same Wylish name as me?”

Judy braced herself. “Elvira, you’ve never said your Wylish name is Shaun. Perhaps it’s a coincidence. We’re biological sisters; we share a tacit understanding.” She was terrified of being exposed.

Judy felt slightly more confident, however, considering she’d obtained the designs and Elvira lacked proof of authorship.

“What? You two are biological sisters? Oh my god, the difference is huge!” Charles stared at them in shock.
