Chapter 164

After understanding the situation with Cole, Elvira worriedly called Samson’s servants and inquired about Olivia. Learning that Olivia had been sleeping since her return, Elvira asked the servants to check on her more frequently. The servant readily agreed, adding that Samson had been at home with Olivia.

When Elvira found Morris, he was drunk in his rental house. He ignored her knocking for a long time. Elvira persisted until she heard a crackling sound from inside. Eventually, he opened the door.

Elvira looked at the stubbled, disheveled man. Raising her eyebrows slightly, she said, “Nice to meet you, Morris Peterson. I’m…”

“Get lost!” Morris slammed the door shut and turned to go back to sleep.

Elvira continued knocking. Morris opened the door angrily after taking two steps forward. He snarled, “If you dare knock again, I’ll beat you up!”

“You won’t.” Elvira pushed him aside and entered.

Morris was stunned. He didn't know who this beautiful woman was or why she was there. He wondered if Elvira wanted the same thing as the other women in the past. The thought filled him with disgust.

Morris said, “Get lost…”

He tried to grab Elvira and throw her out, but she seized his arm and, before he could finish speaking, flung him over her shoulder. Morris landed on the floor, instantly sobering up.

Elvira tilted her head, asking, “Are you sober now?”

Morris sat up, frowning. “Who are you? Why are you here?”

“Let’s get to know each other first. My name is Elvira Willis. A man from my company previously contacted you about filming a movie, but you refused. I want to know why.” Elvira pulled up a chair, sitting down and looking at him calmly.

“There’s no particular reason. I won’t film it. Leave,” Morris said with disgust.

Elvira looked at him seriously, sneering. “I know about the disgusting things that happened to you. Do you know why you encountered them?”

“You investigated me? What are you up to?” Morris, now completely sober, darkened his expression. He didn't understand what Elvira wanted from him. Was it his looks again? The thought filled him with disgust.

“I want us to help each other. If you help me make this movie and defeat my enemy, I can help you start over!” Elvira’s tone and attitude were sincere.

“I can’t help you! You can’t help me either! Everyone is on their own in this world.” Morris’s eyes were red with anger. He suddenly lashed out. “Get lost! Get out of here! Otherwise, I’ll show no mercy!”

Elvira ignored his rudeness, looking at him seriously and posing a series of questions. “Morris, do you know why they dare to treat you like this? It’s because you’re too weak! If you become stronger than them one day, they can only bow down to you! Don’t you want that to happen?”

Morris was stunned. He’d never considered her words. He knew he was weak, but he’d never thought of becoming strong enough to intimidate those people.

“That won’t happen. I can’t do it. They represent money, huge money! How can a small fry like me fight against them?” Morris asked in despair.

“How would you know if you haven’t tried?” Elvira asked calmly.

Morris was stunned. He looked at the beautiful woman, her sparkling eyes and calm demeanor. Her words resonated with him. Since the accident, Morris hadn't listened to anyone. He didn't know what about Elvira made him listen.

He wondered, ‘How would I know if I haven’t tried? Can I really do it? I have nothing. Can I really fight against them?’ “Just leave. Don’t come here again. I won’t agree to it,” Morris said calmly, his emotions having stabilized.

“Morris, I know you’ve suffered a lot. I also know why you’ve become like this. I know you’re a good person. If possible, please pull yourself together. Your fans are still waiting for you. Some people need you to save them! Think about it carefully. Call me when you’ve thought it through.” Elvira said nothing more. Spotting a pen and paper, she wrote down her number and left.

Morris sat on the floor for a long time, motionless. He suddenly smiled, thinking, ‘Become stronger? Save them? That’s all nonsense. I’m a useless person with nothing! I can’t save anyone. I can’t even save myself!’

When Elvira left Morris’s house, she went to a fruit shop. Unexpectedly, she ran into Leonard. He was dressed in black, wearing a cap and mask, and also shopping.

Seeing him, Elvira quietly approached and reached out to pat his shoulder. Leonard whirled around, aiming a gun at Elvira.

This happened so suddenly that everyone was shocked. The shop owner, who was ringing up a customer, froze in fear, his eyes fixed on Leonard’s gun.

Leonard, originally nervous, relaxed upon seeing Elvira, though cold sweat still beaded on his forehead. Elvira, noticing the onlookers, quickly took the gun. It was so heavy it almost slipped from her grasp. Muttering under her breath, she forced a smile. “Why are you so childish? You’re an adult, yet you brought a toy gun to scare me.”

The onlookers, hearing it was a toy gun and that Leonard and Elvira knew each other, relaxed and resumed shopping.

Elvira returned the gun. Leonard, finally reacting, put it away. After paying, he retreated to the side.

“I’m going to buy some fruit to see my injured friend. You can leave first. I still have to pick some fruits.” Elvira smiled and turned to choose some fruit.

Elvira left after selecting a few fruits. Leonard waited outside. Elvira wanted to ignore him but, after a moment’s hesitation, walked over and asked, “Do you live nearby?”

A cold sweat broke out on her as she thought, ‘Oh my god, that’s a real gun. I’ve never seen a real gun before.’

“Yes. Why don’t you come to visit my house?” Leonard said.

“No, thanks… I still have things to do…” Elvira immediately refused. She had no intention of going with him.

“Let’s go!” Leonard said gloomily. His eyes and voice lacked their previous gentleness. It was more of a statement than a request.

Elvira considered his gun and resigned herself to her fate, following him. She looked around, uncertain if Zach’s bodyguards were tailing her. Although she knew Leonard wouldn't kill her, she remained apprehensive, unsure of his intentions.
