Chapter 163
Elvira and the others stayed in the ward overnight. Olivia woke up the next day. When she woke and saw Samson, she immediately turned her back. She didn't want to see him at all.
Samson knelt before Olivia's bed and apologized, crying, “Honey, I’m sorry. I’m really sorry.”
“You should leave. I don’t want to see you right now,” Olivia said gloomily.
“I’ll get Elvira to accompany you. I’ll leave first,” said Samson. This night had been extremely torturous for him. Now that Olivia was awake, he felt it was time to deal with Emily and the man.
Samson went out to tell Elvira that Olivia was awake. Elvira didn't even look at him and quickly entered the ward.
Olivia couldn't hold back her tears when she saw Elvira. She hugged her and cried. Elvira cried as well. She knew how much Olivia loved children; Olivia had chosen to be an obstetrician because she loved children.
Elvira didn't know how to comfort her. No one could bear the pain of losing a child. The only thing she could do was stay with Olivia and care for her.
Spike had accompanied Samson to meet the kidnappers. He whipped them mercilessly, as if venting all his hatred.
The two were terribly beaten. Initially, they could beg for mercy and dodge blows, but in the end, they couldn't even beg. They almost died from the beating.
Emily and the man weren't professional kidnappers. They only wanted revenge on Samson and to get money to escape. Unexpectedly, they failed to get the money and instead put themselves in danger.
When Spike saw things getting out of control, he stopped Samson. He couldn't let Emily and the man die. Spike thought that, at the very least, Samson shouldn't kill them, or he would be in trouble.
Samson broke down and shouted, “If you thought you didn’t have enough money, you could’ve just said it! I can give you as much as you want! Why did you hurt her? Why?”
Seeing Samson so sad, Spike felt upset. He could only hug him tightly and prevent him from doing anything impulsive.
Olivia didn't dare tell the Santos family about the accident. Elvira handed all her work to Cole and stayed in the ward with Olivia for a week to care for her.
Samson came every day. He didn't dare go in, didn't dare face Olivia's heartbroken gaze, and couldn't stand the guilt. He only dared to hide outside and secretly look at her. When she was asleep, he would go in and visit.
Other than the miscarriage, Olivia only had superficial injuries. These injuries were easy to heal, but the trauma was hard to deal with.
Olivia didn't know how to face Samson. She didn't blame him for implicating her and getting her caught. Since they were married, she thought they could bear everything together. She just couldn't accept that Samson had forced a six-month pregnant woman to have an abortion.
On the day Olivia was discharged from the hospital, Samson came to pick her up. Olivia didn't speak to him. He just accompanied her silently. Elvira sent her home. After settling Olivia, Elvira said, “I’ll stay with you for a few days. If you want, you can move to my place.”
“That’s not necessary. I’ll be fine. You should go back. You’ve wasted a lot of time this week,” Olivia said, knowing Elvira was under a lot of pressure, especially with the Willis family's awful members.
“What are you talking about? No work is more important than you,” Elvira said, stroking Olivia’s cheek.
Olivia finally smiled, her first since losing her baby. “Got it. Just get back to your work. Take care of your health and don’t tire yourself out.”
Elvira saw that servants were taking care of Olivia, so she didn’t stay longer. When she left, she was still unwilling to look at Samson.
Samson felt bitter. He only hoped he could make up for the damage Olivia had suffered.
Samson, who had never cooked before, asked the chef how to make chicken broth. He personally made a pot for Olivia to nourish her health. He planned to cook for her three times a day.
When the chicken broth was ready, Samson went upstairs to call Olivia down to eat. When he reached their room, Olivia was already asleep, sleeping restlessly, her brows furrowed. Samson felt a sharp pain in his heart.
Zach brought food to Elvira’s company for lunch. He also got his men to buy some chicken broth. She had recently lost weight taking care of Olivia in the hospital, which distressed Zach.
In front of the coffee table, Zach scooped a bowl of chicken broth for Elvira and told her to have more. Elvira was hungry after a busy morning. She finished it.
They chatted as they ate. Elvira was very angry with Samson. Zach didn’t dare mention him.
“Elvira, I’m sorry,” Zach suddenly apologized. Elvira was stunned. “Why are you suddenly apologizing?”
“Previously, you were kidnapped because of me,” Zach apologized guiltily.
“That’s not your fault. It has nothing to do with you. I’m angry because of what happened to Olivia. It’s all Samson’s fault! Olivia had to bear the consequences. I just feel sorry for her. This situation is completely different from the previous incident. It’s only right for husband and wife to share certain risks. Don’t overthink this,” Elvira comforted Zach, sensing his misunderstanding.
Zach hugged her. “Elvira, I’m suddenly quite afraid. I’m afraid there will be unknown danger surrounding you in the future. I’m afraid I’ll cause more danger to you.”
Zach had been thinking a lot recently. He suddenly felt there was a lot of potential danger around him. In the past, he had never been afraid, but now he was. He was afraid he would bring Elvira danger.
“You’re wrong. Lots of danger is aimed at me. Just Amber and Judy alone are ticking bombs. I don’t know when they’ll go off. We’re about the same, so let’s not compare ourselves,” Elvira said, stuffing a piece of meat into his mouth, smiling and kissing him.
Zach knew she was deliberately saying this to comfort him. He smiled and kissed her back.
“Let’s eat. Hurry up. I’ve got work to do in the afternoon,” Elvira urged him.
After the meal, Zach left. He also had a lot of work to do.
Chapter 163
Elvira called Cole over and asked about Cheryl’s current situation. He said Cheryl had been undergoing professional training recently and was in good condition. She had always wanted to see Elvira, but hadn’t been able to recently because Elvira had been in the hospital.
“What about Morris? Has there been any progress?” Elvira wasn’t worried about Cheryl; there were plenty of opportunities for them to meet. Now, she needed to sign Morris.
Cole shook his head. “Morris’s situation is quite tricky. His company is keeping him, but the key is still him. He… doesn’t seem to want to resume work at all, and he doesn’t want to sign the contract. I’ve tried to contact him a few times, but he ignored me.”
