Chapter 184

Elvira couldn't find a suitable office location in such a hurry. Since Zach had already prepared one for her, she happily accepted it. Cole only suffered superficial injuries and refused further hospitalization. Elvira could do nothing to stop him, so she let him leave. Cole arranged for the company's relocation.

Actually, there wasn't much to move; the original company had burned down. Zach had everything prepared for the new company, and they just needed to go to work.

With such a huge incident, a few employees felt something was amiss and resigned.

The HR manager was very worried. She feared these resignations would affect the whole team, so she asked each departing employee to reconsider, trying her best to persuade them to stay during the company's troubles, to avoid damaging their reputations.

However, a dozen employees were determined to leave. The HR manager had no choice but to let them go. She regretted it immediately and called Cole to report the matter and ask for guidance.

“Ask the work group if anyone else wants to leave. Let them handle the resignation procedures,” Cole instructed. He wouldn't persuade those who abandoned the company in its time of need. How sincere could those people be if they stayed? It would be better if they left.

Following Cole's order, the HR manager sent a message to a group chat, asking those who wished to leave to submit their resignation letters.

The Human Resources Department remained in the building, in a small, dilapidated office provided by the building's property management.

As soon as the HR manager sent the message, several more people immediately wanted to leave. The manager could only follow Cole's request and let them go.

This time, more than twenty employees had left. The company didn't even have a decent office space. Who would want to work there? The HR manager despaired, believing the company was about to close down.

A few people came to process the numerous resignations.

Just as three completed their resignations, Cole arrived at the temporary office. The HR manager and the other two employees stood to greet him.

“Hello, Mr. Bennett.”

Cole nodded. A trace of embarrassment flickered across the eyes of the three employees who had just resigned. However, considering the company's dire situation, they didn't dwell on it.

“There’s no need to stay here. The three of you, follow me to the new office,” Cole said.

“New… new office, Mr. Bennett? The company has a new location already?” The HR manager was surprised. She knew the company’s situation; their current lease had five years remaining, making a new location impossible.

Everyone shared the HR manager's astonishment, wondering if the company had rented a warehouse or something similar.

“Mr. Bennett, where is the new company location? Do we need to bring anything? Are we still moving these?” the HR manager asked.

“Just take the computers. There’s no need for anything else,” Cole replied, preparing to leave.

“Mr. Bennett, we still have things to deal with. It might take some time. Why don’t you tell us the new office location? We can go over ourselves later,” the HR manager said, terrified of where they might be relocated.

The other two employees also felt desperate. The three who had resigned looked at each other. They felt lucky they had chosen to leave, wondering where they might have been sent otherwise.

“The 15th floor of Gilbert Group is our new office. Everything is complete. You don’t have to bring anything. Since you’re unfamiliar, Gilbert Group has arranged for someone to meet you downstairs. Just give your names, and someone will take you up. You'll be issued an elevator card later,” Cole patiently explained. After this incident, those willing to stay were loyal; he was willing to be more forthcoming.

After Cole finished speaking, the six were stunned. They looked at each other, forgetting to ask further questions. The HR manager wanted to confirm she hadn't misheard, but he had already left.

“Did I mishear? Gilbert Group? Is that the Gilbert Group I know?” The staff member who helped with the procedures blinked, uncertain.

“The address Mr. Bennett gave is simply Gilbert Group, the largest group in all of Averna.”

“There’s only one Gilbert Group in Averna. Is what Mr. Bennett said true?” The HR manager gasped.

The three employees who had just resigned were dumbfounded. The resignation papers felt like a hot potato; they regretted their decision and wondered if they could return. Of course, the answer was no.

“Mr. Bennett doesn’t tell jokes. Hurry up and pack your things and take a look! Then we’ll see. Hurry up and pack up!” The HR manager was excited. Working at Gilbert Group meant she wouldn't have to worry about recruiting talent; she feared countless top students would rush to apply.

“Yes. Let’s go and take a look!” The other two employees hurriedly packed their things.

Seeing them pack and rush to leave, the three who had just resigned tried to speak but were ignored.

It was ridiculous. When the company was in trouble, they wanted to leave. Now, knowing the company hadn't collapsed but had improved, they wanted to return. Who would want them?

One of those who had resigned said, “I don’t believe Mr. Bennett’s words. Do you realize what Gilbert Group is? How can they give a floor to our company? Mr. Bennett must be lying.”

“I think so, too. How is that possible? My uncle is a supervisor at Gilbert Group. He said the entire building belongs to Gilbert Group. There’s no outsider. How can they rent a floor for our company?”

“We’ll see if we go and take a look! Let’s go! I want to see if Mr. Bennett is so capable.”

The three didn't want to believe it, finding excuses and claiming Cole was lying.

The HR manager and employees were warmly greeted by Gilbert Group employees and invited to the fifteenth floor. They looked at the office environment; it was more than ten times larger than their previous space, with brand-new, state-of-the-art facilities.

The three were so excited they felt dizzy. They wished to celebrate, but were too embarrassed with Gilbert Group's employees present.

Finally, they said they needed to use the restroom. Once inside, they couldn't help screaming and jumping for joy.
