Chapter 198

Sandy was annoyed that Rowena kept pacing in a panic. "So it failed," she exclaimed. "What's wrong with you? How could you be so stupid and useless? You couldn't even finish such an easy thing!"

"Alright, can you just stop walking? Hurry up and think of something!" Sandy said impatiently, crossing her arms on the sofa.

Rowena walked over and sat down, trying to comfort her. "Sandy, don't be anxious. There will be a next time. She's my daughter. She wouldn't really avoid me, right?"

"Do you think Elvira is a fool? Since you failed this time, how could you have another chance? What happened just now? Tell me." Sandy looked at Rowena with disdain. If not for Rowena's usefulness, she would have dumped her long ago.

Then Rowena recounted the events. Sandy realized they had no chance to lie to Elvira anymore; even the car accident hadn't worked.

"It's all your fault," Sandy huffed. "It's your fault for not treating her well before. Now she doesn't believe you at all. If you had treated her better in the past, you would have succeeded today."

"But who knew she would be suddenly so smart now? In the past, she was just a silly girl and would do whatever I said," Rowena said, confused.

Sandy rolled her eyes. "Of course, she was just a kid, so she naturally followed your words. But now? You think her age is frozen?" She didn't bother wasting any more time. Just looking at Rowena made her feel disgusted and frustrated. She made an excuse and left, leaving Rowena sitting there sulking.

Rowena didn't believe Elvira would really dare to cut ties with her. "I'm still your mother! One day, you will have to come back and beg me!"

Elvira went downstairs, instructing the bodyguards to deal with the two men, before taking a car straight to the company. Upon arrival, she took the elevator to Zach's floor.

The secretary informed her that Zach was in a meeting. Her rationality told her not to disturb him, but she was too sad, so she sent him a message: [Honey, I want to see you.]

Just seconds after the message, the office door was forcefully pushed open. Zach rushed out before Elvira could send another message suggesting they eat together later.

When she saw him, complex feelings surged into her heart. She quickly walked towards him; all she wanted was to hug him tightly.

Zach's heart ached as he saw the tears in her eyes. He walked over and carried her to his office. Wherever they passed, everyone automatically lowered their heads, not daring to steal a glance.

Back in the office, Zach sat on the sofa with Elvira on his lap. He asked worriedly, "What happened?"

Hearing his concerned question, Elvira almost burst into tears, though she hadn't felt such intense emotion before seeing him. Then she recounted what Rowena had done.

When the story was over, Zach's face went cold, as if the air in the office had reached freezing point. He clenched his fists, his joints cracking with a burning urge to kill Rowena.

Elvira hugged him tightly. She kissed his lips and comforted him. "Don't be mad. Look at me, I'm fine, right? I'm already going to cut ties with her. I'll need your lawyer to draft a paper for me and get the bodyguards to deliver it. If she doesn't sign it, she will go to jail!"

Elvira was extremely disappointed in Rowena. She did not want to have anything to do with such a cold-blooded woman anymore.

Zach's expression finally eased. He immediately took out his phone and ordered the lawyer and bodyguards to settle the matter efficiently that day. Otherwise, they could all get fired.

When Rowena received the agreement to sever ties with her daughter, she shook her head repeatedly in disbelief. "I'm your mother! How dare you!"

Rowena tore the agreement and said angrily, "I won't sign it. I'll always be her biological mother. If she wants to cut ties with me, there's no way!"

"If that's the case, then wait to go to jail. Given what you did today and the confessions of those two men, I can let you stay in jail for at least ten years!" The lawyer threatened expressionlessly.

"Nevermind. I don't believe that Elvira would send her biological mother to jail!" Rowena refused to yield.

"Then send her to the police station. I'll send the evidence over later." The lawyer, not wasting time, instructed the bodyguards and left.

The bodyguards immediately moved to apprehend Rowena. Only then did Rowena realize they were serious.

"Wait a minute, I'll sign it!" She didn't want to go to jail; she didn't want to lose everything.

She was starting to hate Elvira for being so serious about severing ties. "You didn't lose anything, but Sandy is resentful of me now. Why can't you stop? How could you be so cruel!"

The lawyer watched Rowena sign three papers, even having her fingerprint them. He then reported to Zach. After confirming everything was settled, he left with the bodyguards.

Rowena was mad and in tears. "It's not fair! I didn't do anything wrong. I was doing this for Elvira's good, but she doesn't appreciate my kindness at all! Now even my Sandy is mad at me. How did it become like this?"

Zach put down all his work to spend more time with Elvira. He tried all kinds of ways to make her happy because he understood the pain of being betrayed by family too well.

He took her to her favorite restaurant, and when they got home, he thoughtfully bathed her, dried her hair, and coaxed her to bed.

Enjoying her husband's considerate service, Elvira's mood completely brightened. A smile played on her lips as she tugged at the corner of his shirt and asked, "Are you willing to do anything for me?"

"Of course, as long as you're happy," Zach said without hesitation.

"Then I want to hear bedtime stories. Could you?" Elvira hugged him and nuzzled his back.

Zach's body stiffened. He had never told a bedtime story before, but since his wife wanted to hear one, he was willing to do anything. "What do you want to hear?"

"Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, and Thumbelina," Elvira said with a smile.

But Zach had no idea about these stories. However, seeing that her mood had already improved, he wanted to cheer her up even more.

"Lie down. I need to search on my phone." Zach turned around and kissed her.

Elvira immediately nodded. Her husband's voice was comparable to a voice actor's, extremely pleasant to her ears. Then she lay down happily and waited eagerly for her husband's story…
