Chapter 82

After giving Eloise a bath, Celeste saw Annie still sitting on the couch, engrossed in her phone. She walked over and said, “It’s getting late. Why haven’t you gone to bed yet?”

Annie said, “Perfect timing. I have a relative who has been feeling unwell lately, and she’s hoping you can take a look at her. When is your clinic opening?”

“Two days from now,” Celeste answered, eyeing her friend with interest. “What’s wrong with your relative?”

“Her condition is similar to Mr. Wrenford Senior’s. She’s having trouble breathing. Modern medicine hasn’t been very effective, so I would like you to take a look at her.”

“Of course! Just have her come by once the clinic is open, and I’ll check her out.”

“Great.” Annie nodded, then changed the subject. “How’s your shop coming along? Has the renovation been completed?”

“Yes. It’s almost finished. The household staff will come by to clean up tomorrow, and after that, we’ll be ready to open.”

Annie looked intrigued. “Have you hired anyone yet?”

“There will be interviews tomorrow.”

“Make sure to choose carefully and find someone reliable.”

Celeste smiled gently but didn’t respond.

The next morning, several candidates arrived at the clinic for interviews. Celeste planned to hire only one traditional medicine practitioner for now. Once the clinic was running smoothly, she would consider expanding the staff.

After interviewing several people, only one guy had caught her eye. He was pretty young, but his medical skills were impressive. Moreover, he was tall and good-looking. When he walked through the door, he had a refreshing and clean presence, like a breath of fresh air. His name was Rowan Moss.

Celeste couldn’t help but smile when she saw his name on the list of interviewees. She thought it was such a poetic name, much like his gentle yet sharp personality.

He answered almost all of Celeste’s questions perfectly. When it came to hands-on practice, he impressed her with his unexpected professionalism.

“Not bad. You can start tomorrow if you’re up for it.”

Rowan nodded enthusiastically. “Sounds good, Ms. Morin.”

“Just Celeste is fine.”

“You’re older than me, so it doesn’t feel right to call you by your first name.” Rowan smiled faintly. “How about I call you Ms. Celeste instead?”

She gave a light nod and walked him to the door. As soon as Rowan opened the door, his gaze met one that was chillingly cold. The man in a black suit, with sharp features and defined hands, had just raised his hand as if to open the door himself.

Rowan paused for a brief moment when he saw him. He quickly nodded at the man before averting his gaze. He then turned back to Celeste and said, “Ms. Celeste, I’ll take my leave now.”

Celeste waved at him. “Alright.”

Her attention shifted to the man walking in, and her eyes flickered with curiosity. “Mr. Wrenford, what brings you here so suddenly?”

“My friend told me that your clinic is opening soon. He didn’t have time to check on the progress, so he asked me to come by,” Adrian replied indifferently. His mesmerizing eyes held a faint, almost imperceptible softness.

Celeste smiled. “Your friend must be worried that I’d tear down his place.”
