Chapter 87
Rowan instinctively nodded and said, “Got it, Ms. Celeste.” Celeste quickly entered the consultation room and prepared for the next patient.
Damien’s anger flared. He wondered when Celeste had become so sharp-tongued. How could she insult him without even using a single curse word?
“Sir, do you have any health issues? If not, please leave. We can’t afford to delay seeing other patients. After all, the patients come first. I hope you understand,” Rowan courteously said.
Damien lifted his eyes, locking gazes with Rowan. The anger in his eyes deepened, the frustration palpable. He wondered where Celeste found such a compliant lackey.
With a cold grunt, Damien glared at him before quietly leaving the clinic.
Celeste lifted her gaze to the entrance after hearing a knock on the door. Rowan opened the sliding door and poked his head in. “Ms. Celeste, he’s gone.”
“Okay, thanks,” Celeste smiled.
Rowan removed his mask, leaned against the doorframe, and casually asked, “Was that your husband?”
“Yeah,” Celeste replied, lowering her gaze to the list of medicinal supplies. “But we’re getting divorced. We’ll be moving forward with the process once he signs the papers.”
“Good riddance,” Rowan said, giving her a thumbs-up. “An unfaithful man like him doesn’t deserve to stay around.”
Celeste glanced up, offering a faint smile. “Oh really? Do you think he looks unfaithful?”
“I’m good at reading people. Anyway, he just doesn’t seem right for you. I actually thought the man I saw on the day I interviewed for this job was your husband. He seemed like a pretty solid guy.”
Celeste froze mid-motion, her hand still holding the list. She replayed the day of Rowan’s interview, her mind racing as a strikingly handsome face suddenly flashed through her thoughts. She realized that the man Rowan was referring to was Adrian.
“You’ve misunderstood. He’s my husband’s uncle, or rather, my ex-husband’s uncle.”
“Ah, they’re family? No wonder they all have such good looks,” Rowan remarked, his smile faint. “That’s too bad. If he weren’t your ex-husband’s uncle, I’d honestly hope that you two could be together. You really do look great standing next to each other.”
Celeste lifted her gaze to Rowan, a subtle blush creeping onto her face. “What do you mean, look great!? Don’t say that. He might hear you.”
“I feel like that man’s face is familiar. I think I’ve seen him somewhere.”
“He’s the CEO of Grotto Corporation. He’s also one of the biggest shareholders behind the university you graduated from,” Celeste explained.
Rowan’s eyes widened in shock as soon as her words fell. Although it was the first time Rowan saw Adrian, Grotto Corporation and Adrian were well-known throughout Longdale. Everyone in the business world had heard of those names.
“So, he’s Adrian?”
Celeste nodded. “It seems that you’re familiar with that name.”
“Of course! Mr. Wrenford is famous in the business industry. I’ve definitely heard of him.”
Just then, footsteps echoed at the door. A patient had arrived.
“Ms. Celeste, there’s a patient here. We’ll talk later.”
“Okay.”
