Karter nodded. "Yes, I took them on myself. I got tired of filming, so I wanted a change of pace."
"You can have a change of pace by going on vacation. I don't agree with your choice to take on these variety shows," Gwenda said, offering an objective suggestion.
Karter frowned. "Why?"
"First, you're an actor. Long-term public exposure makes it difficult for actors to immerse themselves in their roles. Second, variety shows are for good actors who can't get new roles. A capable artist like you, who doesn't lack resources, shouldn't be on them—at least, not now."
Karter's expression darkened. "I disagree. A good actor shouldn't be affected professionally by participating in variety shows. There's no conflict between the two."
Gwenda raised an eyebrow, surprised by his contradiction. The atmosphere grew tense.
Eloise quickly intervened. "Both your points are valid. However, since he's already committed, let's not back out. After these shows, he can focus on new roles. What do you think, Gwenda?"
Gwenda remained silent, drumming her fingers on the table. A frosty silence filled the room. Eloise, despite her industry experience, felt a pang of panic at Gwenda's impassive expression.
Karter remained firm, unwilling to concede. They reached an impasse, creating an awkward atmosphere.
After a while, Gwenda sighed, rubbing her temples. "Forget it. If you want to do it, go ahead. But keep your distance from the female guests."
"I won't pull publicity stunts," Karter replied, a little unhappy with her caution.
"I know," Gwenda said, "but that doesn't mean others won't use your name." This had happened often in her previous life, a key reason for her opposition to the variety shows.
Despite Gwenda's compromise, Karter's expression remained cool. After the meeting, Gwenda left. Eloise kept Karter behind.
"What happened? Dissatisfied with the new boss?"
"Eloise, I joined this small studio for you. But Gwenda Evans' perspective is too limited." Karter tried to remain objective.
Eloise chuckled. "You underestimate her."
Karter was surprised. "Really?"
Eloise nodded. "Don't let her age mislead you. She's capable. You'll see."
"I'll wait and see," Karter said, leaving the room. Eloise followed shortly after.
Gwenda turned her attention to Alisha. As a new, relatively unknown artist, she needed a new path. Gwenda remembered Alisha's unsuccessful youthful concept in her previous life and planned to change her approach this time.
