Listen to this chapter:

It took Gwenda a long time to calm down after Olivier left. She temporarily pushed the earlier events from her mind, lying on the bed and staring at the ceiling. Many things occupied her thoughts. Since her rebirth, she couldn't waste this chance to do what she'd been unable to do before: reclaim her grandfather's company from her father. This was her top priority—preventing the company from falling into Gretchen's hands or being acquired. Gwenda continued to ponder.

The door opened, and her cousin, August Reed, and her grandmother, Suzanne, entered.

"Grandma!"

Seeing her grandmother, Gwenda leaped from the bed and hugged her. In her previous life, her grandmother had been devastated by her father's actions, falling ill and bedridden. Three months later, she had passed away. Distraught, Gwenda had been in a car accident on her way to the funeral, never getting to see Grandma Suzanne one last time. Fortunately, God had given her a second chance.

"Grandma" Gwenda hugged her grandmother tightly, tears welling up. She couldn't describe her feelings; she just wanted to hold onto Suzanne and never let go.

Suzanne, surprised by Gwenda's reaction, gently touched her head. "You must be frightened, child. I was too. If I hadn't seen the news this morning, I wouldn't have known about your accident!"

"I'm fine," Gwenda sniffed.

August snorted. "Granny, I told you not to worry. Look at her now. What could have happened?"

"What did you say?" Grandma Suzanne released Gwenda and glared at August. "She's your younger cousin! Not only do you not care about her, but you speak of her so carelessly. Is that reasonable?"

August pursed his lips, feeling unjustly accused. He'd always had a strained relationship with Gwenda, believing the Evans family had raised her to be naive and troublesome. If Grandma Suzanne hadn't asked him to accompany her, he wouldn't have come.

"What kind of attitude is this!" Suzanne was instantly enraged.

Gwenda glanced at August, remembering their past. Their relationship had been terrible; they constantly fought. However, at her lowest point, August had been the only one to stand up for her. This made her realize that those who seemed uncaring often cared deeply, and outward displays of concern could mask ill intentions.

Pulling herself from her thoughts, Gwenda looked away and said, "Don't be angry, Grandma. August isn't to blame. I'm truly fine."

"There should be no such attitude from your elder cousin," Grandma Suzanne scolded.

Gwenda smiled faintly and changed the subject. "Well, let's sit down, Grandma." She helped Suzanne into a chair.

August, seeing Gwenda's unconcern, frowned. He felt her forehead. "Gwenda, did you fry your brain?"
