"What?"
"Isn't that your sister? The one who had a previous conflict with you at school?"
Hattie gestured toward the location. Gwenda looked up. A joyful Gretchen, holding Martin's hand, was approaching at a sedate pace. They froze upon seeing Gwenda at the elevator entrance.
Gretchen spoke first, softly calling, "Sis."
Gwenda gave them a cold glance before looking away. Gretchen, seemingly expecting this, looked disappointed and said to Martin in a coy tone, "Martin, let's go."
Martin, however, remained, staring at Gwenda. Not having seen her in months, he noticed how much she had changed. She was thinner, and he found her sexier. She wore a knee-length black dress that complemented her figure, her slender legs particularly eye-catching. Light makeup enhanced her beautiful face, illuminated by the gentle ceiling light. Martin was momentarily captivated, forgetting his surroundings.
"Martin, Martin" Gretchen's soft voice intruded.
Snapping back to reality, an uncomfortable expression flickered across Martin's face. "Yes? What is it?"
"Let's go." Gretchen urged, sensing something was wrong and wanting to leave.
"Hang on, I have something to say to Gwenda."
"You"
"Be good." Martin ruffled her hair, then walked toward Gwenda. "Gwenda, I have something to say. Could we talk?"
Gwenda gave him a cursory glance. "I told you before, there's nothing left to say."
"But I wasn't finished with what happened last time."
"Last time? Oh, so you want to talk about my supposed 'unfaithfulness'?" Gwenda sneered sarcastically. "Martin bloody Morel, you're here holding hands with Gretchen. Isn't that ridiculous?"
"That's not what I meant. I'm doing this for your own good!" Martin looked exasperated. "I heard from your father that this guy is tricky, that he manipulated you against KG Entertainment. Gwenda, I know you resent me and Gretchen, but you don't need to take revenge on your own family like this"
"It's none of your business," Gwenda interrupted frigidly, her eyes venomous. "If you have time for this, I suggest you take care of yourself."
Noticing Cecilia approaching, Gwenda led Cecilia and Hattie into the elevator.
Watching them disappear, Martin's face darkened, his brows furrowed. Gretchen approached, saying in a coy tone, "Martin, you know my sister. Why bother?"
"I didn't expect her to become like this" Martin's face was dark, his expression plaintive.
"Maybe she's just irritated. Give her time. She'll understand." Gretchen rubbed his chest soothingly. "Let's go upstairs."
Martin nodded, letting it go for now. Taking her hand, he entered the elevator.
