After marking their attendance, Gwenda and two colleagues went to a break room backstage. As soon as they sat down, Hattie immediately began gossiping. "Gwenda, was that man your ex-boyfriend?" Gwenda, who was on her phone, casually nodded. "Yeah."
"What a scumbag!" Hattie grumbled. "He cheated on you and still had the nerve to lecture you? I can't believe him!"
"It's fine," Gwenda replied. "I'm used to it." Martin's actions were nothing new to her; she'd seen this side of him before.
"So, it seems Mr. Petit is the best," Hattie said dreamily. "He's handsome and rich—perfect, like a prince! No ordinary guy compares."
Gwenda was startled and gave her assistant a sidelong glance. "Why did you bring him up?"
"Oh, I just thought of him," Hattie grinned, leaning closer. "Has he visited you recently?"
"Who gave you the courage to gossip about your boss's private life?" Gwenda glared.
"Sorry, sorry" Hattie immediately apologized.
Gwenda sighed. Nearby, Cecilia smiled faintly. She didn't care about Gwenda's personal life; even knowing Gwenda's connection to KG Entertainment, she never questioned it. Cecilia only cared that Gwenda would always support her. "Miss Kelly? It's time to move," a staff member announced, opening the door.
Gwenda, as manager, followed Cecilia. The three women stopped behind the stage. Cecilia left with the staff member, leaving Gwenda and Hattie to wait. Unfortunately, they overheard nearby staff gossiping:
"Did you hear? Something big happened today." "What?" "Mr. Morel was seen with the other Miss Evans! They've gone public!" "No way! Wasn't he with the eldest daughter?" "Who knows with the rich? Maybe the eldest daughter has a bad temper, and he couldn't stand her." "I heard she constantly causes trouble; even her father dislikes her." "No wonder he dumped her. Men prefer gentle women. I'd choose the other Miss Evans, too."
Their words reached Gwenda's ears. Hattie, furious, said, "Gwenda, they've gone too far! Talking about you like that!"
"There's always gossip," Gwenda replied impassively. "It's normal."
"But" Hattie protested.
"It's alright. Why are you more upset than I am?" Gwenda asked, confused.
Hattie pursed her lips. "You don't deserve it! You're not the person they describe!"
Gwenda chuckled. "It's over. Don't worry about it. Let them gossip."
"You're tolerant," Hattie remarked.
"Not really…" Gwenda admitted.
Most of the gossiping staff dispersed. One approached them. "Miss Evans, everything's ready. Cecilia's first song is next." Gwenda nodded, but then Gretchen's voice interrupted: "Sis, what a coincidence! You're here, too."
Gwenda's face hardened. The staff member looked awkwardly at her.
